Marlon King?

We are in trouble for sure, and one reason why we are in trouble is that we can't score goals. The logical thing to do is sign someone who can score. King has scored 41 goals in 95 appearances at his last two clubs, at a level above where we are now. Strike rate of 43%.

Did Birmingham or Coventry fans start fighting with each other? Was it PR suicide for them?

No, of course not, and doesn't that speak volumes? We have a unique collection of fans. That is not, for the avoidance of doubt, intended as a compliment.

We have had an explosion of self-righteous and self-indulgent drivel. It borders on a witch-hunt. That's what I'm ashamed of; not signing a much-needed goalscorer of considerable quality.

You will always find the outraged on message boards and phone in's. The pubs will be full of people talking about the Blades, wishing Marlon King was a saint, but not realy giving a fuck as long as he bags a hatfull.

Aye, Axel's going to turn up but go for a piss or something when King comes on.

Swiss will be in Japan anyway, but he's 'going to give it 5 more minutes before he tunes in to find the result.

Elsewhere I estimated the damage to the club could be £85 per season. I think I overestimated by £50.

:)

Assuming Marlon starts, he will come out with the rest of the players (unless we are arranging a guard of dishonour for a solo walk of shame). I'm just wondering how he will know that Axel's walkout is aimed at him? Will there be a banner, or maybe a public address announcement from GS? Will we go to Phase Five? How about a personal escort from Captain Blade, perhaps to the accompaniment of Tom Hark?

The possibilities are endless when you think about it.

It's not moralising or "holier than thou" for blades to be sickened that such scum as this is turning out in a blades shirt, it's just how they feel , how I feel. It's a poor decision and only highlights the level of desparation in which our club and its manager find themselves.
I can't believe that any employer , company let alone one such as a football club , who rely On, and have a lifelong relationship with its community, it's fans would allow such a piece of shit to represent them.

I don't expect the players or fans for that matter to be whiter than white , it's just that I have a level , clearly it's some way above that of winter / weir et al.

Or some way below? Depends on your point of view.

There will be hundreds of far worse scum and pieces of shit in the stands, I'm sure. I think I'll walk out in protest.

Strange if I had done half or even a quarter of what MK has done I would be out on my arse and never work again, and trust me I am very good at what I do. Still I'm not a football player with a great strike rate (give him a belt buckle and he will hit a womans face every time). Then again I can see why he doesn't give a fuck about the laws of the land when those in the legal profession think a slap on the wrist and "don't do it again son" is still OK for the fifteenth time just because he can score a few goals for their team. I wonder how many of you lot supporting this piece of shit have in the past joined in with the chants of "Lee Hughes is a murderer"

I certainly have. I'd have demanded a good 25 goals from him if he's played for us. As it stands, I only demand 15 from our Marlon.

Me.

But like I've said before, THAT is part and parcel of supporting your team. You dish out shit to the opposition and try, for the best part, to encourage and big up your own. Is being a football supporter hypocritical at times? You bet it is - if you do it properly. All's fair in love, war and terrace culture I'm afraid.

If hes had a 'dont do it again son' slap on the wrist and is still free to play football / walk the streets dont you think that tells you a lot about our justice/ sentencing system ?
At the end of the day he has faced trial and been punished for his crimes so is allowed to seek employment and walk the streets Im not happy at his signing but he starts with a clean slate, we have signed him on a short term basis and Im sure come January when we can hopefully sign a younger prolific striker he maybe a bench warmer and fade into the background
Big fuss about about nothing really

Two faced bastards springs to mind with some United fans.

Aye, staying at home on the settee is at least consistent. Not much of a fan mind, but consistent.

The "outrage" / "already stayaway" correlation theory still holding up....:)

you might grow up one day rather than lowering yourself to his level.

I'm sure you just called me a wanker.

A lesser man would be offended. I'm untouchable though. Unless it's Marlon.

:D

Not impressed. If i were manager, i wouldn't sign him. But then if i were manager, i'd resign.

I have just read through this thread and there are a lot of interesting views, and the signing of Marlon King.

I honestly don't know if i should take a moral viewpoint of not supporting Marlon King whilst he is playing football for Sheffield United, or try and approach it that everything is in the past and back him on his deeds on the pitch just like i back every other Sheffield United player.

I personally think that the whole shitstorm surrounding his signing will die down once he gets a couple of goals, and he will let matters on the pitch do the talking, after all it is not too long since a time where we was enjoying a striker in the form of his life, who was scoring 35 goals in 35 games and doing this whilst awaiting a trail on a charge of rape.

Another thing that is screaming out at me is that there will be people at the club watching on closely, to gauge the reaction as in just over a year, Ched Evans will be released from jail and i half expect him to come back to Bramall Lane to try and rebuild his life and footballing career.
