ok guys just been looking into this they haven't been properly confirmed yet because they haven't signed the contract yet which should be happening tomorrow from the Star article i was reading which has now been taken down

Finally we got the right player from adkins Scunthorpe promotion squad. Not woolford Ive learnt at this level to judge them on the pitch because in L1 & L2 we don't have the money to buy someone with reputation. If they do come down their more than likely like Dean Hammond

Only we accidentally reveal we've signed 2 players. Then have to remove the videos & get RS to tweet/pretend like nothing happened. normally we sing "sacked in the morning" because manager was awful makes a change for it to be IT department this time ;)

An absolute disgrace that we've already signed two players and neither are central defenders. I'm pretty sure a year ago there was "no excuse" for not signing these first.

Always liked both players good signings ! Wonder if Roy will do a view from on both ?

Disgracefully Staton tweeted this two minutes after we officially tweeted the news, rather than the equivalent tweet given a new Wednesday signing one minute after they announce it.

I'm just begging him for running thru walls & fanatical commitment! not "bird seed" or wotever that fake welsh? tramp sang according to peter kay?

Happy with todays signings even if one or both can't make the step up to the championship lets get out of this horrible league first. Duffy has proved to have more than enough about him in league 1 and has regularly played 30-40 games a season for a few years now.

Hope that doesn't mean he's due a bad year.

"He comes here for all the right reasons, he has come here because after listening to us he believes in what we are trying to do, Mark could have moved elsewhere for a significantly better contract."

Good lad.

Duffy's played in the lower divisions all his career, it would be totally understandable if he simply took the best financial offer.

Compare that with Dean Hammond...

Absolutely. It is essential that players are signed in chronological order of need, even in the summer with no games to be played.

It's a very poor show. It is also disrespectful to our sponsors, one of whom has clearly been falsely told (according to one of our contributors) that it's Leon Clarke as the 'first of three'... What a way to treat a club sponsor and respected businessman eh? Who could blame him for withdrawing whatever it is he has inserted?...

Just a quick insight on Duffy for you lads, I won't go crazy overboard though.

He's decent for League One, even occasionally very good. He'll probably get you half a dozen goals a season cutting in from the left and launching blinders into the top corner and he'll even get you a couple of assists as well. Which when you consider the number of goals coming from midfield/out wide over the last few seasons, isn't a bad return, especially on a free.

What he will do though, is he'll frustrate you massively, he'll lose the ball by holding onto it too long at times, he'll give it away in dangerous positions by playing a pass that should be simple but he doesn't put enough on it and he'll make the wrong decision more often than he makes the right one. He'll either shoot or take someone on again when there's an obvious square ball on. His corners hardly ever beat the first man and his set pieces are poor (unless it's a direct shot at goal).

He doesn't hide, he wants the ball and he'll keep running even when it's clearly not coming off for him. So as long as you're prepared to accept his "faults" and don't turn against him when he has his games where everything he does turns to shite, he'll be a decent signing. He's no Jamie Murphy though but then again if he was he wouldn't be dropping back down to League One.

Decent signing but no world beater.

Burton scores 57 goals last season, by my calculations Duffy either got the assist or scored a third of those. That's pretty damn impressive, more than just half a dozen goals and a couple of assists. Furthermore, I feel its fair to suggest Burton weren't overly attacking last season (it worked for you so that's not a criticism), but its not unreasonable to suggest that if you were he would have had more goals and assists, especially when feeding a player such as Sharp.

He wont be the main set-piece taker either, reading Bury fans views on Hussey he will be.

Nobodies expecting a world beater, as you say he wouldn't be in league one if he were. And I'm sure he'll be frustrating at times, dont think I've seen a winger play for us that wasn't. But based on being in the team of the year as voted for by his fellow professionals, he's as good as you can get for L1, better than decent and getting more right than wrong, and that's as much as we can ask.

I'm not trying to piss on anyone's chips here TT&T, I think he'll be decent but I also think a lot will depend on how the fans react to him. He will have poor games and then he'll have a five or 6 game spell where he's absolutely on fire. As long as he keeps getting picked during his poor spells, he'll come out of them. He has purple patches and during those spells, he's very good at this level, he went off the boil during the last ten games of the season and maybe that had a bearing on the fact he wasn't offered a new deal at Burton, I expected him to sign for Wigan, I'm fairly sure they offered him something. So they clearly thought he'd be decent at Championship level.

I might be totally wrong but I think he's a real confidence player and I'm not sure how he'll react to 20 thousand having a go at him (which WILL happen when he has a bad game) of course it could work the other way as well, with 20 odd thousand cheering him on, it might lift him to another level.

At Burton he was pretty much the main man creatively, at least until Matty Palmer came back from Oldham the message was to get him the ball at every opportunity, he had a fairly free role to switch wherever he felt he'd get more of the ball, he took corners from both sides, he took free kicks anywhere within 35 yards of the goal, the side played through him, now on his good days that was fine, but when he didn't play well Burton were pretty much shafted.

I don't think he'll be the main man at the Blades, I'd think you'll have more options creatively in the starting 11 than Burton had, so would expect his contribution to be less than it was at Burton, hence the half a dozen goals point. I'll keep a keen eye out for him and hope he gets the goals/assists needed to get the Blades up but i'll stand by my original post, he's no Jamie Murphy on the left and I'd probably play Ryan Flynn ahead of him on the right.

Being Burton's main threat the opposition will have focussed on stopping him more than anyone else so that both makes his stats more impressive and the bad games more understandable.

In a team with more threats and better attacking players he could get more space to do damage, although I doubt he'll be given a free role very often.

If we can get another winger who'll be as productive as him that should see us scoring plenty of goals. I hope we get one with pace though, ideally left footed.

Done seems to fit the criteria?

The difference is (hopefully!) as time dragged on last year it became increasingly clear we were only going to make a couple of signings, so when the first couple of signings turned out to not be defenders....

Further signs of how Wilder will want us to play. Expect higher tempo, higher intensity and more movement. Both players are very forward minded, both looking to bomb forward when we get the ball. Duffy is very different to the options we've had out wide the last couple of seasons and let's hope he's still got the appetite and the legs. Hussey seems to have a quality left foot, which we haven't had in a while. Good start to the signings.

Also glad to hear Wilder's comments about McNulty and Scougall. Like two new signings as well, although there was a hint of a warning for them as well. They have to come back fit and really take their second chance here.
A left footed left-back, who came up with that innovation. Big, no nonsense c/h next.
Sufc, revolutionising the game.

It just makes me laugh when people go on and on repeating "young and hungry", whatever "hungry" means, like no other type of player will do, then seem pleased when we sign a 30 year old from Burton.
I always interpreted the "hungry" bit of that to mean players keen to play for United. That way we can get their signature on the 1st June instead of chasing and begging at 11pm on TDD.

Also, you're doing that thing where you assume a collective voice for all the other fans except you. Maybe those that are pleased with signing a 30 year old from Burton aren't the same "those" that repeat their desire for "young and hungry" players.

Just buy 'em off with a few extra Sausage Rolls at the first game and a few selfies with the players.
