Beggars can't be choosers , plus the guy knows what he is doing on the pitch , good winger , got positional sense , got a footballing brain , can run , tie his own boot laces , put the boots on the right foot.

Come on , WE are going in the right direction . This Duffy bloke is / will be a asset.

Laters , stop moaning with negative vibes . CW knows the score.

Or he could be like that shithouse Woolford.

Just Googled him. I'm surprised everybody's so pleased when I see he's nearly 31. Where are all the "aging journeyman" and "on his way down" comments? We want "young, hungry" players and other over-used clichés like that! Booooo.

We need to build a squad that is capable of getting out of L1 next season.
We're going to need players like Duffy.

FACT. (capitals an't lot!)

Think the original post was ironic but anyway sharpy's no spring chicken and ended up being almost our entire side last year.

We're gonna need some experience too

Oh, I know that. I know nothing of Duffy other than what I've read on here so I hope he's good (although I said the same about Hammond )

It just makes me laugh when people go on and on repeating "young and hungry", whatever "hungry" means, like no other type of player will do, then seem pleased when we sign a 30 year old from Burton.

I've said before that I couldn't give a shit how old our signings are, as long as they're good enough to play in a team aiming for promotion.

We've got loads of 'kids' who may or may be good enough and I'm all for giving em time in the squad but I'll be happy with a first eleven of top L1 pro's who know what the League's about and are prepared to dig in.

UTB!

P.S-Duffy was one of two Burton players in the L1 team of the Year...so unless he drops off radically, he should be good enough to shine for us.

Think someone said left winger above but I'm pretty sure he plays on the right. I may be wrong. I guess it's interchangeable nowadays. Seen him once or twice, seems like a really good signing.

That's being saved until he has a bad game :)

Great signing!! I remember him playing for Scunny when Alan Knill was in charge down there.

Good assists, proven he's one of the best in the league. Free. What more can you ask for!!

Great news.

We'll have at least one good winger next season.

I've wanted him for about three years - we should've had him when we sold Blackman - and unlike most others he's always seemed like one quite likely to sign for us at some stage. He's always played well against us.

He's right footed and can play on either side, preferably the right. He's a neat and tidy, well balanced player with good ball control who can take players on and has decent end product.

Nearly 31 years old but quality at this level.

Wonder how Burton feel about it, a main man for them last season surely.

Great start of things to come hopefully.

Further signs of how Wilder will want us to play. Expect higher tempo, higher intensity and more movement. Both players are very forward minded, both looking to bomb forward when we get the ball. Duffy is very different to the options we've had out wide the last couple of seasons and let's hope he's still got the appetite and the legs. Hussey seems to have a quality left foot, which we haven't had in a while. Good start to the signings.

Also glad to hear Wilder's comments about McNulty and Scougall. Like two new signings as well, although there was a hint of a warning for them as well. They have to come back fit and really take their second chance here.

That Ronaldo bloke is 31 and his legs show no signs of packing up! Plus Duffy isn't all about pace he's a lot about trickery, clever positioning and good balls in. Good player, a winger his style could easily play till he's about 33/34 at this level. Hopefully we won't be at this level for long enough to find that out :)

Good experienced promising signing. Happy with that.

I thought he looked really good when he played for Burton earlier this season (last season now I suppose) and was surprised when I looked him up that he'd been bobbing around at this level for a while and how old he was. He seemed to have some nous and a bit of skill.

A failed Championship player that's been unable to break through and forced to drop down a division, and a lazy bit of scouting by Turnbull to go for someone from his old club. Would be what no doubt a few would have otherwise said.

I like this though. Decent width, proven at this level regardless of their lack of progression above, and goals. Hopefully offered a reasonable league 1 wage though rather than a championship wage...
