Alleged match fixing, hopefully for him this is not true but end of the road and a new low of true

His career is dwindling fast. What a useless waste of time he was. Too far up his own arse on an ego trip, without having really ever achieved anything.

Now? Nothing.

Near us, we regularly frequented the same barbers. He was a bit of a scrote and ridiculously addicted to gambling, spaffing away thousands whilst sat in the chair. Football wasn't his full or even first focus.

Did you read the article? It says nothing about him being skint, just that he would rather go on the dole than return and play for Reading.

“For me, with everything I have seen there over the years I’m just glad it’s going to be over and I don’t have to go back down there.
‘I would probably be happy to be unemployed than go through that again.”

Was actually a decent finisher as well. A shame, but for nobody more so than himself that his career turned out this way. Some footballers will cry about a lack of help and support, but they need to actually want to help themselves first.

Yeah, read it.

I meant "Now? Nothing" and referred to his career as "dwindling" as part of a second, lacklustre spell at middle of the road Dundee United. 8 goals in 50.

But yes, clickbait title.

Was a strange player, always looked like a player that could do something , but very rarely did

Similar to Lavery for me , a bit of a nothing player, who showed flashes , but nothing more

Shame him and scougall didn't turn out to be good players always looked like they were some potential in them

Maybe the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

MM came on as a late sub at PNE in the Cup around 7 years ago.

A mate left early and whilst trying to grab a cab outside the ground, was asked by a Scottish fella where he was going and if he could jump in.

Apparently it was MM's Dad (or so this bloke said anyway) and despite travelling all the way down on the day to watch him play, he was more bothered about getting away early for a beer than staying to watch his son's full 15 minute cameo.

Aye,
Whilst I can’t comment on MM’s fondness (or otherwise) for the swallie, no matter where we went away we’d frequently encounter ‘Clan McNulty’, an entourage of around a dozen (stereotypically) hammered Scots.
Having got to know them a tad it was soon apparent that coherent conversation was not a standing agenda item.
To be fair, no different to numerous Blades you encounter away:
enter alehouse;
scan clientele;
mutual recognition;
nod;
“alreight” ;
sit / stand a distance away.
“They’re well oiled early………….as usual”
- same as folk do with us
Rinse & repeat

Could have made a decent living in L1/L2/Scotish but gambling is a slippery slope

I don't have a great deal of sympathy for him having met him and his little entourage on a night out in Sheffield. Absolute wannabe hardmen gimps.

He was young, mind. Hopefully he's matured.

He was shite. But not quite as shite as some players who sometime played instead of him. Consequently every time he didn't play, his stock went up....

Always seemed a pretty decent finisher. He's not had many spells at thriving clubs, but seemingly did well when he did.

My overriding memory of him was from away at Peterborough, when Billy headed the late winner, I was celebrating and found myself facing the bench (about 5 metres away) - accidentally locked eyes with, an also celebrating, Marc McNulty.

To be fair the laughing police man would have looked miserable if he had to sit along side Nigel Clough for any length of time.
He’s actually a nice chap when you talk to him one on one. I think he dislikes the fame that comes with his parentage and role, and is a lot more introverted than his dad (which isn’t hard, to be fair) but if you talk to him without all the trappings of his job being involved he’s a dead normal, down to earth guy.

And I didn’t want him as Blades manager and hated his tenure with us, so I’m not biased just because he was a Blade for a bit.

Agree with that, he was a decent finisher. I remember a goal away at Rochdale which he took really well and made it look easy when it was anything but. Talent is only part of the equation I suppose.

I can assure Mr McNulty that most Madejski regulars would also rather see him on the role than return in the blue & white hoops.
Decent finisher on his day but that's about it.

Was the "beef" with Billy genuine or a misunderstanding? I remember rumours of MM's mates referring to Billy as Bully Sharp but also read that was a ducking autocorrect fail.

There were some similarities between the two. If MM had stuck with it and used Billy as a role model he couldve been a Scottish Billy Sharp

I liked him when he played for us to the point that I thought why do we need to sign Billy Sharp when we've already got a quality finisher and younger in Marc McNulty! Show's what I know! He's underachieved for his ability has McNulty, when we was doing well at Coventry I remember thinking don't move when you're onto a good thing and to join Reading I never thought was a good move. Hopefully he'll bang in a few more goals next season, maybe at League One or SPL.

One of those pisshead look at me types who liked the image more than putting the hard work in.

Actually a really good finisher when he could be bothered but it's not 5-aside.
