Read Balham Blade 's post for McNultys' strengths,all i will add is that McNultys' first touch on the floor isn't normally too bad.He struggles when the ball is chucked in to him but on the floor he normally does alright.Have a look back at his goals and then tell me his first touch is shite,believe me you won't.

McNulty isn't the problem,it's how we approach games that needs to change.He will get goals if played right,playing with someone else up top or somebody else supporting him from midfield wouldn't go amiss.

So it seems we all agree, He is not yet good enough to command a regular place and we do not have the luxury of trying to build around him because of this. As for his fist touch in front of goal I would like to point to you the ones he's missed which will be as many as he's scored.
I don't think he should start this Saturday and don't think he's the best finisher in the club.

Whilst he has many areas of his game he needs to smarten up on, let's not forget he's 22 , in his first season in proper football and is playing a lot more than expected due to lack of available options. I think he was going to be a bench warmer this year but has been pitched in out of necessity. stand him down, but don't discard him so easily.

Indeed. He's not the best forward I've ever seen but he's done more than I thought he'd do this season, particularly after seeing his first couple of games. It is not his fault that he is used as a lone striker in front of a midfield 3 with no goals and few assists in it (so far - Reed is coming on in that regard).

I thought that mcnulty was just terribly isolated, that in addition to pumping balls up to him whilst he was being dwarfed by their centre Halves meant that we never got anything to stick up front.
It is the job of midfield players, Scougal, JCR and Murphy as our predominantly forward thinking players to get around, support and hopefully get beyond him. They did not do this once!
There was an instance where they were winning three old and committed more players into our penalty area than we had in a previous attack.
Last season we had players getting beyond the striker with the ball, unfortunately that is a rare occurrance this season

This is the problem with playing 1 lone striker upfront ...... they need to have a touch like Velcro, be mobile and be solid as a rock to hold the ball up and bring others into play.

Regrettably, we don't possess one that fits this description at the Club. We have one who is as mobile as my house, one with a touch like a JCB and one who is still a kid. Why on earth would we need to bother with a striker in the JTW eh ???

A short month ago there was a clamour on here for McNulty to start, not from me I might add.

The undoubted fact is that McNulty is the best striker our manager has signed in 16 months -FACT.

Last summer the manager talked about a "strong strike-force of four" and said Mcnulty would have to work his way into the first team.

In a nutshell, that is where we have gone wrong. There's no buggar else!

Good luck Mr. Done and Good luck Mr. Clough. Ours and your last hope for this season.

At the moment we have 1 striker (Done) and 2 development players ( McNuts & Diego) at the Club. { I refuse to class Higdon as a striker because I have seen Brian Deane play and he WAS a striker. }

NC said he wanted a "strong strike-force of four" to work with in the Summer. We have had 6 months to sort that out and failed so miserably that it makes my eyes bleed !!

We are reaping what we have sown and I see nothing to suggest anything better than a weak, failed play-off semi final defeat at best, for the finale to this season. We are not strong enough to compete with either MKD / Preston / Swindon over 2 games.

This obsession with a new striker is too much. Until we are able to play football with our strikers facing goal then the problem will persist, whoever we have upfront.

We just don't create chances and that is the root cause of our problem

Don't need a brick shit house who can hold up the ball whilst wrestling two Rottweiler's if the ball is played in front of the striker and he is facing the goal.

Never seen him play upfront by himself with his back to goal mind.
