Thats not what that post is though is it?
That's like someone putting a 9/11 post on and you complaining about America's involvement in Oil wars.
I believe its called 'whataboutism'
You can't find one abhorrent, but not the other.

I dont either
Im well aware of that but the last 2 years of war and all the bombing and killing has been mostly down to Hamas and their decision to carry out the act of October 7th they surely knew what would happen. I certainly did

This is my last post on the matter as its supposed to be a thread about signing a player its been de-railed enough
Yes, everyone knew. They were bombing before, they've been bombing since. They were justified to respond, but the disproprionality of the response is what they're being condemned for.

So I'm guessing the 2 euro lads count towards thev5 then. I'm sure I heard they didn't
I think they do count towards the 5. Like you, I'm fairly sure they didn't use to. Maybe that was, or still is, a Premier League rule. Not sure!

Sorry diagree. This thread is about signing a right winger from Spurs.

The political debate you say around the player has deviated even off that topic.

The football world has people of all sexualities, political view points and the whole spectrum of everything else. Lets stick to football.

Bypassing how it could split the dressing room, it will be a football issue if FIFA ban Israel.

In your own feeble mind perhaps

The oppression and theft of land (acknowledged as illegal) has been going on for generations.
The notion you see Gaza as a charity case shows you know or care very little about the reality and history of Palestine.
Plenty of people in Sheffield, including at S2 and S6, are appalled by what Israel has done.
And plenty of people aren't. It doesn't mean either side is right or wrong, but everyone is entitled to their view.

What I do know is that the crisis in the middle east isn't going to be solved on the forums of S24SU. It should also have no bearing on whether we sign Solomon or not. It will be be a decision based on football, and football alone. I cheered for Choudhury when he wore the red and white, and i'll do the same for Solomon.

I have a solution. Why don't we sign him, because he's a great player, and all of the cuckold, lefty, Guardianista snowflakes who are offended by it, can either fuck off and support another club, or just stay away in protest. Maybe make some little placards and hold a candlelight vigil or something. Deal?
Best way to protest would be to go and support Wednesday.

Not one would you be protesting at Salomon (if that’s your inclination), you could at least piss off all the Wednesday fans by putting money in Chansiri’s pocket and extending his reign at a monent they are trying to boycott; a kind of anti-boycott boycott 😉

You also have the intellect of a fly. ;)

I'm not getting into the political discussions, but more of the fears this could harm United if we sign him comments.

I guess the question i have is, did this tweet cause Leeds any bad press?

I dont know, which is why I ask.

I sometimes feel supporters can be too protective of United (or there own team) and worry what other people think too much.

Some comment about what people will think about how our kit looks, who our sponsor is etc etc.

I think the reality is, no-one outside our supporters care who sponsor Sheffield United and what our kit looks likes.

We love and care massively for Sheffield United, but in all honesty, a very high percentage of football supporters (including me) dont care about other clubs.

So for me, if he improves Sheffield United, he's good for me unless I have missed mass protests about a tweet over a year ago.

As fans, you can support the club without buying into an individual players politics. In much the same way as we did when HRH, and the baggage of his home nation, was in charge or Anel made his recent stance.

On a personal level, l fall on the other side of Solomon's apparent view, but I'm prepared to let sport and politics be separate where UK sports are concerned.

Let's let the footballer play for the shirt and the club and let the politicians do the politics.

To be clear when i said ‘you’ I didn’t actually mean you Jon Bon II . I meant if you were the person who wanted to protest then you could go to Hillsborough because if you’d opted not to watch United the next best thing would be to hurt Wednesday’s cause! Folks attending and putting money Chansiri’s way is exactly what the Trust don’t want.

Then again they do say if you have to explain a joke… 🤣

I’m not sure what he posted but he was banned from Instagram for whatever he did post. Nearly moved to Marseille but that fell through due to political reasons (fans went apeshit about it).
Interesting that you claim he was banned from Instagram but don’t know what he posted nor do you acknowledge that the account was reinstated by Meta who said it “was removed by mistake and has been quickly restored. His account wasn’t removed because of any content he shared.”
Are you a WUM, a stranger to the truth, or do you have an agenda?

Booo....he justified a totally disproportionate response....booo
The tweet about “Where were your eyes?” was dated 28 May 2024 by a young Israeli who understandably would be biased towards his country.

So, what would be a proportionate response? When did it become disproportionate?
In my opinion its definitely disproportionate now and has been for a long time but I couldn’t say when I changed my opinion. And I don’t carry any patriotic bias.

The lads done nothing wrong in my book. If he’s available and wants to come then we should welcome him.

That was six months after October 7th. Constant bombing for six months after a terror attack that lasted a few hours was disproportionate even then, and people said so.

What he said was "unless he's publicly come out as loving war or something"

I'd suggest what Solomon posted was the opposite of loving war. You reposting with that picture suggested that Solomon had created controversy by supporting war, which imo is a misrepresentation of what he posted and solely misrepresented for the purpose of purveying a negative view of him. It's fuckin backwards that we turn situations like this against our club, and use the plight of those poor Palestinians to justify it.
Whatever he posted, he was banned by Instagram for it.

The thing that got Leeds negative attention was when they sung a song about him hating Palestine. The club had to publish a statement about it and received a lot of flak.

I'd hope that if we did sign him that we wouldn't stoop so low.
