Managerial failings once more..

If someone said last season that we would be without Egan, Anel and Basham, we would have said we're stuffed.

Agree....hence why the fans who sing Heckys praises have valid reasons.

Altho the irony is Hecky has fallen on some great formations and in form players because of injuries/ suspensions being forced upon him.
For example he refused to play Trusty, but now has no choice to throw him in and to be honest he looks an excellent defender.
Wouldn't it be funny if Trusty become our player of the season, when Hecky obviously never rated him. Same with Slimane, wouldn't it be funny if he ends up being our best player but Hecky won't play him until every other midfielder is out injured.

I've never known a situation where I could put up a long list of factors why Hecky is doing a great job for us but there's also plenty of evidence suggesting Hecky is underperforming. Opposition fans in the Championship always said we were an average Championship side + N'Diaye whilst opposition fans in the Premier League say we're one of the worse sides they've seen in years. They can't all be wrong.

Maybe Hecky is modelling himself on Simeone's at Atletico Madrid where we deliberately set up to defend and frustrate.

Hecky seems to be modelling his stye of play on the old "rope a dope" tactic.
Anyone remember how Ali beat the ferocious Foreman in the Rumble in the Jungle.
Ali was a massive underdog with Foreman being the Mike Tyson of his day, experts said Ali had no chance.
So in the early rounds Ali refused to trade punches and just stood there being hit over and over again.
Foreman was throwing loads of punches but Ali was cleverly deliberately conserving his energy, blocking the punches with his arms.
Ali was initially feeble and looked out of his depth, however in the 2nd half of the fight he came live.
Foreman was totally knackered and Ali's speed and freshness was simply too good resulting in a late knock-out.

Anyway the bottom line is results, there's been a recent upturn which gives us grounds for optimism.

players out of position , we only have 2 fit centre backs
we have more players still on gurneys than a Gaza hospital

its a fucking miracle we came back to get a point

when hecky turns round and looks at the subs bench its so young he has to have a nanny on the bench
....and some powdered milk....

you play to what you have
atletico under Simeone has 2 ci finals la liga title 3 runners up
and based on being solid , more then frustratingly defensive

Someone at the club find out why this set of players are getting this ridiculous amount of injuries. Most of them are young , with a couple of older bodies, but injuries are higher than at a retirement home.

By that rationale we should never make a substitution ever...
The comparison is between the level we have on our bench currently and what others in the Prem have. Our bench is so poor at the moment that we generally weaken ourselves when we make our subs - other teams have players of equal or near equal ability sitting on their benches. Brighton brought on Mitoma. We brought on Slimane for instance. Bit of a difference?? It's not about not making substitutions obviously - it's about all this clamour for Heckingbottom to change it early blah blah blah. How will this actually help us with the current state of our bench? Do you want to see John Fleck for 45 minutes? If so fine, but I don't!

You’re asking a very particular question there.

Also, if we’re that tired we are very unlikely to get up the top end of the pitch late on anyway. Its in midfield where it all looks like it is crumbling late on.
I'm not though am I? It's an example of the fact that our starting 11 is currently far better than the standard of our bench in all positions unfortunately. If we'd got say, McBurnie, Brewster, RND, Anel, even Davies etc sat on the bench then yeah, absolutely get them on early enough to make a difference. Or if they're in the starting 11 and we've got say Archer, Thomas, Bogle, McAtee, Norwood on the bench, then again, yes let's see them early! But the fact is we haven't at the moment. Our bench is shit currently, long and short of it, and I don't blame Heckingbottom at all for trying to keep our best 11 on the pitch for as long as possible.

People tend to forget we have most of our first-choice players out injured. who is going to take over if Hecky gets sacked? I suggest not holding your breath on that.,nowt is going to happen until the Poundland prince sells the club. Don't hold your breath on that either.
Who are these first choice team players you allure to ?

Would they improve the starting line up to a level of competitive performance ?

Blimy, you can't be a blade if you don't know the players who are out injured. Egan Ahedhodzic, Basham, Mcburnie etc. Either you are thick or being a clever cunt.

The results of the injury investigation are in:

We are putting a lot of minutes in players legs very often without making subs and we also have a huge injury list. Correlation isn't always causation but if we run players into the ground they will go pop eventually

I guess Hecky has the final say, but I'll ask again what do McCall & Lester do?, surely they can see that all these injuries are occurring, do they say anything to hecky ,or aren't they allowed?

My only gripe about Hecky is that he clearly has his favourites.

Imagine Fit versions of Egan, Norwood and Fleck on the bench?

Hecky would be hoping for an opportunity to get them all on!

There’s loyalty to some players, but PH definitely has his favourites.

i dont think its that they are his favourites ,more that a core group of experienced players have basically managed the team since jokanovic went and without them hecky is lost

I believe it's a case of going back to the old gaurd to steady the ship, but the old gaurd are past it,, we need to keep improving the team/squad and I'm afraid this means taking a chance on new players that we're reluctant to do, last year proved it with McAtee & Doyle, it suddenly clicked. The same things happen with some fans, when someone like Norwood or Fleck gets stick , they start saying, "but he's been brilliant for us", etc,etc we have to keep evolving, not stay in the past,
