Maybe they did. Maybe Riley and Man Utd wanted him to go to a club like ours chasing promotion. A promotion from league 1 will look better than a possible relegation from a league above on any CV.

It's a far better experience for a young kid. A relegation battle can be soul destroying. If I was a manager I wouldn't be too keen on a kid going on loan to a club likely to be relegated and with an inexperienced manager. Much rather send them to the mighty Blades.
