Man Utd and Man City interested in Diego

He's been watched for years now, including these two previously.

We should do a Southampton and say we're not interested in less than £10m. Drives me crazy that we seem to be the only club who undervalue their young player and just have to listen to the usual bullshit of "Can't stand in their way" or the famous...

Let's hope we see him play a game or two for the first team before the Board cashes in. He's a talent.

He must be bloody good if they're coming to watch him based on zero .(almost) league games.

Hardly likely to sign him in the next fortnight if he's not even fit to start. Even if it's true, we'd get half a season out of him and I'm sure another one at least.

They did say all this abt Maguire recently, but that calmed down. I think Diego is perhaps a little better than Harry.

For me, the "gamechanging" investment would face its first challenge here. I can partly accept them holding till the summer for better value in building a promotion push. However, the investment has to mean that we keep our younger stars. If so many are interested, quote them £15m or tell them to beggar off. If we're serious re: PL under the new owners, we need to build for the future.

£15mil plus a sell on clause if they are really interested.

Although the Blades Way is sell him cheap and then claim the fax machine broke when trying to sign a replacement.

Any English born player who is called up to an Italian National youth team is going to be attracting interest from big clubs. It's very rare that it happens, especially when he's at a club like us.

If he's that good. .He should have no problem forcing his way into our team when fit. .then we will see how good he is

It'll be less than a mill :( I'm sure of that.
He'll be offski as soon as you can say "how many beans you offering?"

Same owd

Can't they buy him for around 250k cos of that rule for youth development players if prem teams come in for them and we have to go to tribunal?

We haven't got a chance of keeping him, or anyone who actually has potential while we are stuck in league 1. We also aren't going to receive their true value either while we are still in this sodding league.
Neither is the player going to want to stay. Why would you?

I'm sure he signed a pro contract ..................................... still no doubt there will be a release clause in there for any offers over £250k it's the "Blades Way"

As soon as they sign a professional contract the EPPP fees are out of the window. It's all down to the clubs once that happens.

The one element of this that worries me is that the lad has just had a career threatening injury. If a top club offers him significant cash now, the temptation for him and his family would be huge, even if the best footballing decision was to get first team games here for a while before moving on.

Anyway, I find it hard to believe any club will make a serious bid until he's proven he's totally recovered and showing the same promise he had before.

Hard to put a price tag on a player that has had only a few minutes of first team experience. When Arsenal paid an eight figure sum for Walcott and Chamberlin (for example) they had played at least a dozen or so first team games and had performed very well.

If a big club comes in with a punt on young Diego how can we seriously turn around and say he's worth £10-15m? If we did and he ended up in our first team looking completely average then we would feel like mugs for not accepting £3m.

Difficult one to call if someone did come in with a bid. Given the things I've seen and heard, I have no doubt he has great potential but until he puts that to the test we don't know.

They already tried to get him for their academies. He turned them down then and hasn't established himself with us yet. If he wanted to go into their acadamy he'd already be there.

This hype just get dumber and dumber. He's zero chance of living upto it plus it'll be doing a teenagers ego no good at all.
