Man of the match

Everyone hates the little twat (me included) but Grealish had a decent game - hardly gave the ball away and moves forward to try to create something.
And barely went down unnecessarily, game was a lot better for it. Johnstone MOM though.

Their keeper was technically sound. Saved everything and made it look comfortable. Grealish was decent but wanted to hold the ball for too long. Chester played well at the back. Snodgrass' influence grew throughout the second half. Adomah always looked dangerous

Apart from Saturday coming and Fulham away I think that was the hardest game of the season

I thought Villa were the second best side (after Fulham) we've seen at the Lane this season. They did their job well. I think the Holmes sub was a mistake (in the sense he came on too late considering it was his debut), but maybe CW was saving Duffy for Saturday. Still a very good performance, and great to see Evans (and Leonard) fit in well

His positioning was excellent, hence he made each save look comfortable. He’s a real talent, although Moore looked pretty good as well.

Throw all the negatives at me that you want, their keeper was easily the man of the match.

He pulled off some great saves, no doubt about it. Great keeper.

Mind you, if someone would have told me that we would only lose in the dying minutes to a team that cost what theirs did, compared to what ours cost, I would have laughed, we matched them from the first minute and were unlucky not to be 2-0 up in the first half.

I thought it was a United player who was MoM,don't care what Sky say,Baldock or Evans(what a home debut that was)

While we might be shitting ourselves about the next two games we've nothing to lose.
4 points would be brilliant still, it's an oppotunity not just a tall order.

I think the manager and players will be relishing the next 2 games, and after 6 years in League 1,for us to go to play the league leaders whilst still in play off contention, it's mouthwatering, bring em on.

That's the spirit Fred, that's the spirit we all had in the Summer too.
We should all get back to that mindset.

70% of Villa fans on their forum gave it to Johnstone and that says it all.

Their Assistant Manager said on Sky that they’d got away with one - that says it all.

We were really good and only lost because their keeper played a blinder and we made one bad defensive mistake which was punished by a world class strike.

Magic Takes Patience

...which was ridiculous.
Absolutely. As we left the game, I saw Snodgrass and their goalie on the pitch being interviewed and assumed Snodgrass would be giving their goalie MoM the award. Got home, watched the game, I know, glutton for punishment and was astounded. He obviously got it for the goal.

I love it when because a player scores they are deemed to be the best player on the pitch. Like at home a few weeks back, when we had 3 different scorers and they were all up for the nomination as man of the match. Everyone was saying Duffy was man of the match then, and even though he wasn't iin the official nominations he still shared it with Lundstram.

There is much more to who is the best player than who scores the goals

Who did United give it to afterwards? I'm struggling to think who ours would be?

Fleck stood out for me but faded in last few minutes.
Their keeper was MOM imho.
