So, with Maguire picking up his 5th yellow card of the season yesterday, he's suspended for Walsall on Tuesday night. Who would you start next to Collins?

It's either than or pluck McGinty from obscurity.

I expect it to be Hill, though I still maintain McGinty has got something about him if we can coax it out.

It's a shame Terry Kennedy hasn't stepped up to be considered as adequate cover. I remember people were raving about him instead of Harry, and I looked forward to them being the future of our defence.

Injuries have set him back unfortunately. At the moment, I wouldn't throw him in.

Only found out about this when reading the paper this morning, didn't dawn on me yesterday.

Personally I would rather have this out of the way now before we go into the busy xmas period as I am sure Maguire would rather have this one off his back so he can concentrate on his game.

Hill is quite comfortable at CB so I have no real worries and he is my personal choice, in fact I have no worries what so ever about Hill playing there. I would even bring Westlake back into the squad for this one as well......"Tin Hat On"

Serious question. Why and what for? Are you moving McMahon to CB?

Back into the squad as in back on bench as he wasn't even there yesterday and considering we are playing his old team I'm sure he would be dying for a bite at the bullet therefore thats why I would bring him back in. He's whipped in a couple of decent crosses this year and he's not total garbage however I wouldn't pick him over McMahon what so ever......

Speaking of that it's amazing how many people have had a sudden change of heart and agree with me about McMahon being half decent since his cross yesterday as well.....aren't football fans fickle :D

I fully expect Cloughie to go completely un British and go with a 3-5-2.

Back three of McMahon-Collins-Hill, but 5 in the midfield allows Baxter to play in behind Porter and Taylor.Doyle would be sitting in front of the back 3, allowing McGinn and Baxter to play the ball about.

I don't see why you need both in the 18. I am not a big fan of McMahon either.

I'm a fan of 3-5-2 but don't think we have the personnel to make it work. It needs time to practice too.

I'd normally agree, but seeing as our full backs never/ can't get forward then the back three will work.
The midfield just needs Doyle to play in front of Collins, which he knows.
Baxter would slot into his role behind the strikers
The only issue I'd see is down the right, Aidy White is probably better suited to a wing back role, down the right, perhaps Flynn.

It seems perfect when we've got immobile fullbacks and little cover for the back 3/4 - seeing as McGinty, Westlake and Williams are write offs

I have major worries every time Hill plays as, to put it simply, he can't pass water. I'm not picking on him in particular though, he's no worse than Doyle, Williams, etc.

Don't dislike the idea of 3-5-2 but preferably with Doyle playing just behind McCabe in the directors box and regrettably, Baxter is so unfit and not really cut out for this "rough & tumble" division.

He scored 1 in 3 in this division for Oldham, so why is he not cut out for this division at the Lane?

It's no coincidence that players who have done well at this level previously come to us and all of a sudden can't perform. It happens too often.

The same rough and tumble he scored about 15 in last season?

Lets just let the new manager make up his own mind about this player or that player. He's still settling in and assessing the players he's inherited. Once he's settled in I've got full confidence any of the squad who aren't good enough or don't show they want to play for him will find the exit. So far I get the idea he knows what he wants and who he doesn't want in his squad. Have to say NC impresses me most as a manager since Warnock.
