I was stood at the front of the Kop, didn’t here a single boo when his name was announced.

Surprised me that the applause for his name was much louder than the applause for any of the other subs.

I was in a real mess about this today. I got on the bus, then got off it, went back home, asked god what to do, got a taxi to shoreham street then asked him to take me back home, did some yoga, got back on the bus, did some coke, ate a burger, drunk some white lightening and stood outside the Lane shaking.

Eventually I went in.
A real Christian then

Was in the South Stand, when Gary Sinclair read his name out all I heard was applause. He also got applauded when he came out to warm up.

Perhaps the permanently offended mob are in the minority or have actually got a grip.

You can bet the few who did boo will not next time because they were in the minority and they won't like that so next match you hear very little booing, the game after everybody will either do nothing or clap/cheer, you see.

Shrewd and good management skills by Sir Chris at yesterday’s game .
Gradually introduce Mr Madine to the home crowd
Then bring him on at a away game , where it’s the more loyal and hardcore fans ( no offense to any Blades fans intended btw ) so less likelihood of an adverse reaction , to his introduction, pops up with a goal an a assist jobs a good in

Yeah, but that's your pre-match ritual for every home game.

Cw used his brains by not bringing him on yesterday ,could you imagine the reaction if QPR had equalised after he had come on. Wise move Chris.

You are me in disguise. :) that's exactly what I said. Had we been 2 or more up, I suspect he may have got on.

Totally agree, when someone is controversial and could be a distraction then gradually increased exposure is the key.
Also it gave a good message allround that Leon Clarke was chosen above Madine from the subs bench.
It shows to Leon that he hasn’t just been cast aside never to play again, he’s still an important squad player.
Also shows to Madine that he can’t just walk into the team to even play as sub, he has to work hard and keep high standards.

I don’t ‘boo’ anyway as it’s daft and I’m certainly not going to boo someone just because I think they’re not very good at football, after all it’s not their fault.

So because there were hardly any boos, everyone is actually alright with it and the people who raised objections on this forum are the only Blades who are bothered about it? Really? Despite most people who did raise objections clearly stating that they were not going to boo and were going to continue to support Wilder and the team?

I internalised my boo's during the 90 minutes, and released them as foul smelling wind afterwards. It's a compromise that i'm happy with. I plan to 'take the knee' when he get's subbed on and turn my back to the pitch if he scores. :)

The reason there weren’t many boos is because football has never been known for its morals, people’s outrage about what he’s done soon turns to support of the team you follow when a football club is involved, it’s been this way for as long as I’ve known. You’ll get the odd person who sticks to their morals but not many when footballs involved.

Let’s be honest, Madine won’t be here too long so for me there’s no way he should make people stay away or make people have a negative effect on the team. Ultimately though, it’s their choice and I don’t blame anyone who does it, it’s up to them but I personally think it’s silly and who ever does it is cutting their own nose off to spite their own face.

I'd boo me if I was picked because I'm not fit and I'm not good enough.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion about how right or wrong this signing is, or how much a player's personal life / past should play a role, what I have found disappointing is the number of people (only small) who sneer and deride anyone who has chosen to have a moral-based opinion (rather than just disagreeing and putting forward their own opinion). It makes me wonder how they approach other moral situations in their own lives, but I think you are right, people approach football differently.

The fact that we are playing so well and having 2 away games coming up makes things a little easier for Wilder re Madine. Introducing him to an away crowd, most likely for short cameos, poses less risk of a hostile reception.

We then play Bolton at home where he is likely to get as much stick from a section of the Bolton support, so it will be more difficult to attribute any booing to Blades. I reckon he will get a brief run out against them, unless we need him on earlier to soften up Wheater and co.

By the time we get to Boro or perhaps Reading at home I doubt there will be too much fuss, even if he was to start.

Bang on!

It’s a shame that some fans took that approach. What I can say with 100% truth is that those who didn’t want him like myself, you and many others is we mostly put our point of view across better than those that wanted him. The people that wanted him basically said in Wilder we trust which everyone should know is a useless statement on a forum. Why say it or comment on it if that’s all you’ve got to say? Just leave it to Wilder then and shut the forum down.

The in Wilder we trust statement is basically someone saying I don’t think it’s right, or not sure that it’s right but I’ll go with it anyway and to make sure everyone knows I’m a massive Blade I’ll put it on social media, what a load of bollocks.

I must’ve asked 3 times why signing Madine was a good signing but not one person answered it, I wonder why?

Nothing we can do about it now though so it’s best to just support the Blades and hopefully we don’t need to call on someone who wins or concedes freekicks all the game and scores or assists next to fuckall.

Personally I think its a shrewd move by Wilder.

Madine knows he’s divided opinion amongst the supporters and he’ll be busting a gut to win over the haters. He really has something to prove and he’ll give absolutely everything to become accepted as a United player.

From previous experience, that is the just sort of motivation that is all too often lacking, in loan signings, who often promise so much but deliver so little ;)

I like him because he's an orrible cant! Perfect for winning games ugly if we have to, can just see him bulldozing the ball into the onion bag!

Far too intelligent for me, and I'm fuckin bright
