Madders returns

I think the underlying reason for fans resentment towards him is because -

1. We cried out for his positive spiel. He sold it to us and we bought it. All of us.

2. He continued to sell it to us and convince us everything was rosey when it was clearly shit (i.e. Hammonds unseen work) which was a passive insult to us. He revealed his true contempt for the fans after the Scunthorpe game when he knew he had nothing to lose and say what he actually meant.

I should be mature and move on, but whenever I see his face it makes my piss itch. Complete fraud.

Given some time has now elapsed I wonder what people's feelings are about Madkins' return to the Lane. Were we wrong to take the piss out of his motivational positivity? And might the Hull players celebrate in a goose formation if they score?
One of his gooses got loose on the pitch yesterday

Think he had a bad bloated squad, most of which were contracted until the year after when Sir Wilder came in.

But his persistence with Hammond was shocking. He was clearly not able to play anymore, the contract was even more disgraceful. Sounds like Leon at the moment ! :tumbleweed:

No ill feeling but his embarrassing interviews and total detachment from the fans makes me say fuck off and good luck. Seems to be doing ok at Hull though, so GLTTL

Oh dear.

Wrong man in the wrong place at the wrong time. Don’t remember the assembled MENSA brigade thinking he was a bad appointment at the time. Anything was better than Clough according to some. Got that wrong as well.
Your an Adkins fan then?

He's the boring bloke in the pub you get stuck talking to in the local on the Saturday night when you decided not to go up town with your mates. Eventually think fuck it, get a taxi and fuck off up town after all.

Too many backed him for too long. I'll be forever grateful for him stepping in whilst we waited for Wilder. The rest is history
Next time, aim for the game chubby lass pal, it might end better, and none of your mates are there to take the piss!;)

Find the hostility towards him a bit bizarre. Yes he was shit and he couldn’t tell his arsehole from his earhole but I’m not sure he deserves to be labelled a cunt etc.
No a fucking cunt

For me I feel Adkins' positive approach has proven successful when teams are getting the results and makes a good 'fair weather' manager. But when the going gets tough he is not one to lead the troops out of the trenches.

CW by comparison doesn't go overboard during times of success and through adversities, stays calm, saying things as they are ... which is reassuring and breeds confidence in pessimists like myself.

No matter how much we all despise him (me included) I'll always be thankful that he brought Billy back to the club. Without him don't think Billy would've returned. Sharp also single handedly kept us up that season. The rest is history.

Since the talk of the forum is about us signing Norwood, Adkins signed him for Reading and apparently Hull have been chasing Norwood for a while this summer.

Maxter was claiming we bid for Norwood when Adkins was our manager but that bid turned out to be nonsense.

I don’t feel at all sorry for the bloke knowing he probably pocketed a million pound off us for the sum price of fuck all achieved. Add to that the Dean Hammond piss boiler contract and extension. Seriously, if some twat at our mundane workplaces started trying to motivate you by talking about geese you’d think he was radio rental. Me thinks Keiron Freeman on hearing the geese speech simply said “shut up you stupid fucking cunt”.

And Kieran would have been well within his rights to do so as well.

Adkins was just fkin awful.

Well Nigel, please accept my thanks for bringing Billy back, but for everything else...just fuk off you total incompetent fruit loop.

Adkins succeeded in making us fail, it was his plan all along. In reality, it just didn't work out for him, a bit like 98% of our managers. I too don't understand the hate.

Yeah, I read just fine. It's the context in which I'm taking it, that may be causing confusion........

Well try again. At no point do I say I am a fan. But I wasn’t the only one when he was appointed who thought we had done good. Just didn’t work out for him. He has a decent record elsewhere (in spite of some of the shit posted above) and for whatever reason it didn’t work with us. Let it go.

But I wasn’t the only one when he was appointed who thought we had done good.
I thought it was a great appointment, he had a record of success not just with Southampton but Scunthorpe too, I don't remember anybody saying he was going to be rubbish before he was.
But I'm sure anybody who did will be able to find proof of it on here.

Beat me to it, it’s a bit strange to think that our lowest ever finish saw us win our first League title sine 1952, albeit two leagues lower.
Sorry but a promotion to a higher Division in first place, surly you do not judge that as lower than 11th in the Division higher? If that's the case it will be fourth.

No matter how much we all despise him (me included) I'll always be thankful that he brought Billy back to the club. Without him don't think Billy would've returned. Sharp also single handedly kept us up that season. The rest is history.

Badkins signing Billy was his 'a broken clock is right twice a day' moment. But if 'the rest is history' you're after, his (thankfully) only season with us will go down in history for:

Finishing 11th. In the Third Division.

Losing at home to (among others) Bury, Shrewsbury, Peterborough, Burton and Scunthorpe.

Losing away to (among others) Gillingham (0-4!), Port Vale, Crewe, Bury, Rochdale and Southend.

Heroically holding Man. United to 0-0 at Old Trafford in front of 74,284 in the Third Round of the FA Cup before his love-child Hammond needlessly gave away a penalty, costing us £1m in replay revenue (which, as a final kick in the bollocks, was Adkins' reported pay-off from the Blades).

Going out of The Football League Trophy. At Fleetwood.

Sharp's goals did probably 'single handedly' keep us up that season. And Adkins single-handedly made it a fucking miserable season. Some can look back on his time here with excuses and near-fondness, but don't forget he took to slagging us off when he knew his time was up. He more than had the tools to get us promoted that season - an average home crowd of 19,803 and the likes of Che Adams, Basham, Baxter, Brayford, Campbell-Ryce (whose career Adkins 'single-handedly' fucked), Collins, Coutts, Done, Flynn, Kieron Freeman, McNulty, Louis Reed, Scougall and Billy Sharp in the team.

He was fucking disastrous for us.

Decent bloke unlike the previous Nigel who was in charge.

Useless manager though. Remember he thought Hammond was the answer to our issues.
