Never had an issue with the Macron shirts, bought each home shirt and last years away until this season, purely because I think it looks too similar to other seasons and my others are all in good condition still.

However, I thought the other day that I only have one other piece of Training/Leisure wear, a Polo shirt since we changed over from le Coq Sportif.

Looking on the OS at the designs, I know why. It wasn't a concious decision because we got relegated or anything like that. Its just that the training/ leisure kit looks cheap and the quality looks poor.

I have a black half zip Blades Le Coq Sportif reactive drill top which I must've had since '05 and its brilliant, washes well, wear it all the time.

Anyone else have the same thoughts? In times where money is tight, surely the Blades are better off selling a better quality product in the Superstore instead of Cheap tat?

I have a Le Coq shirt from the 97-99 period and it is still going strong. I wear it to the gym regularly and it is only just starting to get a bit frayed.

Yep I still wear the white one from 97... Although it must've shrunk as its a bit tight around my 6 pack...

Generally I thought Le Coq Sportif was good gear

Totally agree. Our merchandise is crap and embarrassing - and has been for years. Cheap & garish - multi coloured designs with oversized badges, often just stuck on with glue and sometimes not even on straight! Not a single decent t-shirt, polo shirt or cap to be found.

Like you say, I'd rather pay a bit more for some decent quality.

Just realised I also have a couple of pairs of red and white hooped macron footy socks, which are decent, but then again they are the 1st team kit

They are amongst the best footy socks I've had.

The Macron socks have been fantastic, the pairs I have, have kept their elasticity and softness thorough many a wear and wash.

I also have a training sweater from last season which is great-I bought it for playing in, in the winter as the team I was with played in black. (went out the window this year with the grey).

Not much catches my eye from the leisure and training ranges, probably why I only have a few pairs of socks and a sweater.

Agreed merchanise is rubbish. The only time it is worth buying is when they reduce it to a fiver. And then I have to think twice.

A - it looks rubbish.
B - its not trendy.
C - it looks like its from Macro.

On the whole I have found the Macron gear utter garbage. My favourite item is an Umbro drill training top in red from circa 1990, still going strong.

I got a couple of pairs at Xmas actually, and you are right, I always wear them for football now, incredibly comfortable!

I too have that black drill top and it looks just as good now as it did 6 years ago.
Visits from myself and Ken jnr to the club shop on match days become less frequent owing to the tat on display there. Once Ken Jnr has the kit he wants (away kit this year) then there is nothing else worth buying. You can buy better at Bon Marche (still).

Might check out the socks though next time. Ken jnr likes his yellow ones.

If only someone could photoshop some merchendise from other clubs and put our badge on it?

I had Dave Bassett's.

Sadly, being young, I thought it would be a crime to not wear it at every available opportunity, meaning it's now long gone :(

I still wear my England umbro water proof training top from about 1990

oh and it was obviously season after PL as it has visitmalta.com under the Blades badge

We would sell much more merchandise if we had a quality, recognised manufacturer. I won't buy any of the current shite on offer at the club shop because it looks and feels cheap. That said I still have an Avec shirt from years ago which is fucking awful and I wear it regularly to play footy in. As fans we will always buy the shirts but if we had kit made by Adidas for example, we would sell tons of training kit / tops / polo shirts etc.

Agree with most of the comments. I have bought only one Macron replica shirt and I have to say it is comfortable etc, but the wonder-web badges are falling off and it now looks shite.

It's like the chavvy gear at Ingoldmels market, covered in manufacturers logos to try and get noticed. I prefered the conspicuous subtlety of Umbro and Le Coq that don't try too hard, and don't need to.

As for the official training gear etc, absolute garbage. We have to accept that kids in Manchester aren't beating down doors to buy Blades' gear, so we have to sell to our own niche market. I suspect the club would sell more if it was stylish AND durable, two traits Macron sadly lack.
