Macron - just hate the word. Sounds cheap like something written on the side of white velcro training shoes worn by old folk.

I bought a Nike leisure shirt 2 weeks ago for £39 .99 , thrown it away , washed funny
Adidas trainers , sole fell off after 3 weeks nearly sixty notes
macron away shirt bought 2 years ago , like new
so dont give me that big name means quality crap

ps do like the villa away shirt , be nice in red

I agree with you 100% about so called big brands means quality - absolute load of tosh.

As for the Villa away shirt, sorry too European for mean but that's my opinion and you are of course entitled to yours.

Kin el, just bung the bloody thing on the washing machine at 30 (or lowest temp available) and on the shortest wash - Be it synthetics or quick wash and it comes out fresh and new.

Don't put it in a too heavy load and don't even dream of putting too much powder and softener in. You'll fuck em.

This is the end of Mums advice...

To be fair though Swiss, your shirts are hardly likely to get any kind of mud on them are they?
A few beer stains, but nowt else, surely.

.. and for all those who have seen their shirts ruined in the wash - have you ever considered that your Mrs is a closet Wendy?

it's a thought?

I miss the days of getting in a lather over the kit.

Ahh, but at least you get a copy of this thread every other month to peruse.

Anybody know where I can get a GCB ringt . . . . .

As a matter of record, my sister put some shite in with my splendid "proper" shirt in about '71, bought from old Fred Archers and it ended up as red and pink stripes. Had to play in that for bloody months.

...If we got something simple and stylish as this I wouldn't care if it was Nike, Macron or C&A. Never understand why kit manufacturers need to add pointless detail and gimmicks to a kit.

Absolutely, less is more :)

Attached image of simplicity but (near) perfection...

Crude mock up or not.. that's awesome

Thanks. I can see us ending up with one like AZ or Leeds tbh.

Anyone have any idea when the new one's (or three) will be released?

I'm of the opinion that the shirt should only be changed every other season, alternating home and away-like the England kits have done. Pleases the suits as there is a new shirt every year, pleases fans (for the most part) as it's only one change each season.

I like the Macron kits, and always found them well made, they wear well and don't really seem to follow a generic template like Nike and Adidas do.

Another set of freshly released Macron shirts.

How would people feel about the home being the same as this but red? Bit like Southampton's last year. Not for me TBH.

I think the away would look OK with Red pinstripes or maybe black

I appreciate that they're plain, but looking at the material they seem cheap and tacky. The transparency of the sponsor's logo doesn't help matters either. It could just be that these are hastily-ironed on prints for the publicity shots but our own "Visit Malta" debacle doesn't fill me with hope.

As we know that Macron are deffo doin our shirts, one thing that I'm finding a bit disconcerting is the 'generic' designs of their kits. There's like 4-5 basic designs and then they simply colour-code/brand em for that particular Club. But as we're paying a fair bit for the shirt and being the size of Club we are, why aren't we getting an exclusive design for ourselves?

Of course, I appreciate 'market forces' etc, but knowing how my other Club (non-league) source theirs, it has to be said, there's not much difference, and we pay more!

Bear in mind that this is an optional year at the end of a contract if it is indeed Macron supplying. I assume the extra year is the idea of the club because they couldn't be arsed or didn't find anyone else to match their terms. Which probably means that Macron will spend as little effort on this as possible. As for the 'generic' or template kit, unless you're top 5 in the PL, you will get a template kit whoever makes it. If Macron have 5 basic designs that looks like 4 more than Puma this season, which all seem to be like the one below:

In all honesty, it's not a fashion parade. I'd be very happy with the same basic shirt year after year - assuming it looked good and was free from any superfluous flashes and bands here and there. Just a straight-up red & white striped shirt with the manufacturers logo as small as possible, made out of a material that isn't going to shoot sparks every time I take it off or get mysterious and inexplicable stains after normal use. If that means there are 25 other teams with the same basic template, then so be it.

It's the same with all the brands. The only people who seem to get "their own design" are teams like Man Utd and Chelsea, however, the templates that they get just get given to the lower clubs after.

For example. Man Utd's "V" strip a couple of years ago was worn by Dundee Utd and Scunthorpe last season.

This seasons Swansea strip is Adidas' latest template it's the same as Spains kit.

And.. Man Uniteds new Home is same as England's Away

Apparently the 'lad in the shop' has already seen mock-ups of the new shirt, which is indeed Macron. Can't see 'em mocking up samples only then not to supply, but perhaps so???

I'd concur with a few of the new posts above. Less is more. Just keep the shirt plain, simple with nothing too flashy. And yes, I'd be much happier if they rotated the kit renewal every two years (home one year, away the next, with a third one thrown in every few years) as in the past.

The prob is with reissuing the kit every year for fiscal motives, they have to change the design somewhat 'radically' to make it different enough from last years to thereby attract the punters to buy it. Hence the generic designs circulating differing Clubs every few years (as illustrated above by Matt).

In all fairness, I'd be more inclined to buy the TOFFS shirts now, or - even better - get TOFFS to reproduce us a past favourite as they did with a couple of the Hobbot shirts in the mid-2000's.

I was having a bit of a mess about and thought this would be a good thread to put this in. A lot of clubs are having new badges recently bolton, crystal palace, everton and whilst we are quite lucky to have a really nice well designed badge I thought I'd make a couple of tweaks. What does everyone think?
