I was looking on the highways agency website and there are plans for roadworks at junction 15 and junction 23 that will take the M1 northbound down to 1 lane on Sunday evening. If you can, please complain about this to [email protected] as these will cause huge delays if you don't get there before 8pm.

At least it's Sunday evening.
Sheffield would do it at Junction 33-35 on a Monday morning about 8.30 am and stop everyone that has a job from leaving Sheffield to get to it.

Funny you should say that JJBlade. Road workers ,and those whose job it is to make road closures must have graduated from the well known World Wide Academy of Stuff Ups where they study howto fuck everything and everyone up
They all have diaries of important events to maximise their input.

.Here, in little old New Zealand, we employ them. Lots and lots of them
Roads, such as they are, are, closed at the drop of a hat. The only thing that happens for a number of months is that the surface is dug up and left unrepaired.

Top level graduates are then to be seen placing Road Closed or Reduce Speed or Loose Chipping signs here, there and everywhere.. And the best is the last on an abandoned highway. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE.

May I take this opportunity of wishing all travelling Blades, a safe and pleasant journey, and a safe return home. And of course a team in the final. Best wishes to all S

As Sheffielder says, up the M40 either all the way to the M42 which joins the M1 at East Mids airport or off at the A46, up to the M69 and join the M1 at Leicester Forest. Always the latter for me.

Bearing in mind that about 30,000 Hull fans will also be vying for space on the M1 southbound, it may be worth considering the M40 route for the trip down. The A1 may also be an option but travelling Hull fans may prefer that route.

Cheers pal, we had to ourselves up to then. :)

Also anyone that regularly travels South will know the M1 between jct 31 right to 28 has roadworks and down to a 50 limit but normally travels at about 10mph.

Thankfully I'm not coming back till Monday. Setting of 6:30am Sunday to a/ avoid traffic (hopefully), b/ get to chelsea hotel. c/ partake in the important actviity of hydration and exercising vocal chords on the Capitals streets.

I believe, do you?

Just as an add-on to this, for those who are driving, there WILL be speed cameras on the bridges because the traffic police pension fund needs topping up again - look for white vans sitting above lane 2.

In the roadworks, the 50 mph average cameras WILL be active, yes, it's a pain in the arse, but better than 3 points and £100.
