It’s not the standard of refs that’s getting worse but the standard of acting or simulation that’s getting better.
A ref has one look in real time and a couple of seconds to decided.
Tv replays in HD ultra slo mo from every conceivable angle can make real time ref decisions look terrible.
It’s so easy to sit in a studio or your sofa and moan about terrible decisions.

We get assaulted in the box and get fuck all yet they give Luton that. 1 pen all season. No recognition at all in any rewards. Refs who constantly shaft us. Starting to think we are not very liked by the establishment

It’s not an anti-Blades agenda, it’s just not headline grabbing stuff. Last time we were promoted it was a dream story, L1 to Prem, underdogs, graft, etc.

Last season it was Forest. This season it’s Burnley and one other “underdog type” from Luton or Boro.

We’re under the radar. No one is interested as we’ve recently been there. Same coverage for Norwich and Fulham in recent times.

Yes, we should get more recognition BUT while slow and steady wins the race, it doesn’t make many waves in the process.

Maybe you are right but we don't seem to get the rub of the green with refs

We don’t need it. We don’t dive, we don’t fake, we just get on with it.

The frustration lies when our player goes down, knowing what we know it usually means there’s been some contact, but gets waved away as refs believe most falls are dives.

Two penalties this season - Brewster missed against Blackpool; Norwood against Millwall. Berge should be taking them.

I will only start to twitch if we get a max 1 point from WBA and Preston, and Luton win at Blackburn.

I was watching the game last night and hadn't really noticed before how run down Kenilworth Road looks. When we went up Bramall Lane needed investment for Sky and the Premier League, so if Luton manage to get promoted they're gone to have to spend a shed load on improving the facilities I imagine.
There's that, but they're also building a new stadium for them (I lived down there for a few years and it was a big deal) that's apparently going to be a prem standard stadium which imo is wishful thinking on their part

Boro look shite, Luton aren’t much better tbh, I have no idea how there 3rd.
It's a poor division and Coventry seem to be hitting form at just the right time. Perhaps the nomination for Robins was a premonition.

Luton are a one season wonder, they struggle next year. Mark my words.
Disagree, they did well last season and even better this. Their formula works, so long as they don't sell their best players they will fight on next season and good luck to them. That said, tougher league next season with the relegated teams likely to do well. Oh and of course the pigs will be back too.

What Luton are doing is what the media think Brighton are doing, i.e. putting together an excellent team with little resources compared to their peers.

Middlesborough didn't deserve to win They were negative in team selection and tactics. In the last 10 minutes they had three or sometimes four players out wide right but one in the box.

Remember, Luton had first option on the plan that eventually became Stadium MK!
Originally it was going to be placed near Harpenden for Luton Town, the 'Kohlerdome', but didn't receive council approval.
The rest is history, MK Dons history!

They do have quite a few injuries but yeah, the tactics were a bit baffling. Taking Archer off when they were 2-1 down smacked of Carrick giving up on the game.

Would take Giles from boro [on loan from villa?] def
and possibly Mpanzu Nakamba and Adebayo from Luton

I saw Carrick’s pre-match presser for the Luton game and it was clear from that, that he was focussed on the play-offs rather than prolonging a chase for automatic that the odds suggested, would be futile. He flagged up that he would be resting or using sparingly, various of his squad that are carrying knocks.

Having caught the first-half of the match, Middlesbrough appeared to be at less than full tilt. I note that they managed to score on pretty much the first occasion that they attacked though. They’re certainly potent up front.

Luton, meanwhile, appear to have only one gear and that is running about constantly to hassle the opposition and deny any time or space to play. Fair to assume that they’ll carry on in the same vein for their last 2 games.

If the 2 sides were to meet in a play-off final, though, I fancy that Middlesbrough would beat Luton handsomely. There’s plenty of water to flow under the bridge before that might come to pass, though…

Don't forget 'intent' to foul can also apply....o_O

Okay, so GK's should just stay robotically on their line.

Come out to punch the ball? Intentions to foul

Come out to make your body large on a 1 on 1? Intentions to foul

A bit of common sense wouldn't go amiss.

Berge and Osborn are the best penalty takers at the club. Never let McBurnie take another, please.

Their CEO was on the radio a few weeks ago saying they need to spend 10 million to get the needed facilities. We spent 5. Apparently they need to basically build up a stand with all the stuff required! Says it's nearly as tricky as their new ground!

Play offs last year too. It may not last but they hired one of the blades twitter/podcast stat guys to work as part of their data team as he used to post stuff as a hobby and it's safe to say it's gone well. Heard they are after Roygbiv to find out comments from other sides fans to motivate their players now.

They'd be as well to ground share with MK Dons for the season rather than spend £10m on Kenilworth Road but I do get that the confined nature of KR will give them a small advantage should they reach the top flight. It's not exactly what the pampered millionaires are used to.

Jay Socik, aka Blades Analytic. Now Head of Recruitment at Luton I think. Used to post on here too . We would be stupid to not be chasing him and his team, our recruitment has been gemerally poor whereas theirs has been almost uniformly excellent over the last couple of years.

They’ve got a new stadium opening in 2024.
