He's not yet ready to step up when Coutts gets injured but he is still young

To be fair didnt realise how young he was, still time. Btw thay challenge was perfect for his booking.

Thought he was poor. His attempt to stop Gray for the first was pathetic. Start Coutts instead and I think the result would have been very different.

He looks casual at times tracking back, that was my biggest issue with him and he needs to get that sorted but like you say he's still a kid who's time to learn.

Lundstram didn't put a tackle in for the first and last goals when he was covering. Let runners run pass him look lazy to me.
Yeah know what you mean just like leadboots McGuire did when he played for us.

Got to give the lad time. He's clearly got talent but isn't the finished article. He has barely started any games for us so it's far far too early to start hammering the lad although it seems like there are some on here who have to find someone in our team to scapegoat for everything.
We were beaten by a better team and most of our players did ok. There are definitely some holes that need filling but there won't be too many teams we face who have that sort of pace and firepower.

Only what his second start? so I'm prepared to give him time - but bar one nice pass he looked way off the pace. Needs to do bettter.

All you can do is judge on what you see on the pitch, and tonight he was very poor. He does not look like a Wilder player, might take a while to get him into one.

He is excellent at backing off, most players would put a tackle in at some point, but Lundstram can keep backing off for about half the length of the pitch without even trying to break up the play. When he did venture forward, he lacked the urgency to get back in position that our normal midfield do and left the defence exposed. The tackle he got booked for was totally fair though.

Hopefully he never gets the chance to prove the doubters wrong as that'd mean he's in the team, and if he's in the team it means we'd be missing Fleck or Coutts.

To me he looks just a yard off the pace at the moment - especially when compared to how quickly Coutts can maintain and use the ball. He needs to zip it around abit faster so hes operating at the same tempo as the rest of the side.

That's not unexpected given its an entirely new team he's getting used to, I think there are signs there he can improve and really contribute something to the side.

He showed a decent range of passing today, and bar a Hammond esq leg dangle for their first he wasn't that bad.

Not that long ago Coutts pretty much went a full season without making a tackle.

Not comparing them as players but he's surely a squad player and let's see how he goes.

Anyone would think we'd got monty back
Thehet, he's not up to lacing Monty's boots yet. He does remind me of MacDonald when he first arrived. I really hope his sluggishness gets ironed out by CW and AK.

On the Ched note, I think he is down on confidence and afraid to try what he is good at. I guess he needs time too.

P.s., they were both blowing even in the first half.

Thought Lundstram did alright, nothing more or less. Bear in mind the standard of opposition and he's in the middle of a team that had made eight changes and no wonder he might be caught out or a bit slower in distribution. Are people just reacting to the scoreline?

He showed more than he has previously in the first half then disappeared as the game went on.

But like the Walsall game, he had a hard role to play, with two attacking midfielders alongside him. He's not a defensive midfielder, but he had to do that job, with the likes of Slimani and Gray lurking about.

Surely there's a great chance he'll be a big surprise and be a good signing given what we've paid for him. But on the surface it does seem like a very strange way to spend 500k.

His boot sponsor won't be happy - started out in new fluorescent yellow banana boots and came on in a scruffy old white pair second half. His passing improved. His physical and mental speed is lacking at the moment. He needs a bit of time. Long way off being first choice yet.

He was much better when Coutts came onto the pitch.

Wtf is the point of signing 'squad players' when you get promoted + need to improve to survive ?
Surely you need to sign players better than what you've got ?
Lundstrum is simply a waste of our meagre resources.
Can't pass , cross , tackle or anything a midfielder should do. No football brain either.
If he is making the team and Thomas isn't , how bad must Thomas be ?

If I was Lundstram and I visited this forum I'd be upset, would probs cry.

Not a question of scapegoating , just assessing players on their performances. I have watched him carefully.
But not quite as carefully as our recruitment of 8 players , half of whom can't make the team.
