Lundstram today

He struggled against a Lower end League one side today.. who exactly does he think is going to sign him?

Something in between both comments above I think. The ability is there, he could be a powerhouse, strong, imposing can play a ball and knows where the net is but too often happy to have his only involvement in a game, a bit of tippy tappy sideways moves on the right flank.

Has the potential to be a lot better than that.

I don’t really buy all these “ he’s sulking” comments though

I’m with you on his positive traits - power, strength, technique, off the ball movement - but he’s not good enough on the ball, and in my opinion never has been. I don’t think it’s an unfulfilled potential thing. Even at his best last year, he was good mostly because his work off the ball set himself up to be. If Norwood had Lunny’s athleticism, he’d be a far better player, but equally if Lunny had Norwood’s ability to read space and movement around him, he’d be some player.

Sadly this is very true. ☹️
And I take no enjoyment from saying it. Fleck has been one of my absolute favourite players over the last few years, I was all aboard the Fleck bandwagon, but he’s either been replaced by an identical twin who has never played football, or he’s sacking it off cos he’s got a better contract.

I do wonder if he has long Covid

He was the most active midfielder to be fair. Maybe we’d see it in a different perspective if he did want to be here? Think he got subbed to be saved for Tuesday.

There’s a reason why we were able to pick him up on a free in League One. For all the talent, there can be a bit of a streakiness to his game, and he looks incredibly short on confidence right now. That plus the fact that back injuries are hard to get over, and he’s not the most athletic anyway, adds up to a number of issues which means he isn’t quite at it. He’s still the same Flecky for me and I think he’ll recover, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Surely he wouldn't be playing if he's not up to it.

The club will either know for sure or be pretty sure if he's had Covid, and Fleck himself will have said if he feels he's struggling to get back to his usual fitness levels, never mind the monitoring done today at this level.

Dunno, but he looks to have lost two yards of pace since the first lockdown.

Agree with that totally.

I said in Shoutbox earlier that I'm struggling to remember a player's form go from one extreme to another in such a short space of time.

I know he's had injury problems but it's every facet of his game. Some of his basic control is abysmal.

I thought his first touch and passing were good today and they haven't been recently. The thing that struck me was he barely ran at all. It was like he was playing walking football.

Lunstram struggled in the Chamoiomship whilst playing for us however he’s proved as recently as 1 year ago that he CAN perform well at PL level.
Also the massive factor regards Lundstram is he will be a free agent.

So there will be plenty of PL clubs willing to take the very small risk gamble....of course he’ll be seen as a squad player.
As there’s no transfer fee...paying him £40K per week is peanuts...easily affordable....it’s a mere £4 million to employ him for 2 years.
The sticking point will be length of contract.....he’ll want 4 years to set him up financially for life...think PL clubs will only want to offer him 2 years.

To me he really looked like he doesn't really want to be here.
Really ?couldn't be further from the truth. He may not have had an effective game but he played just as well as the other midfielders.
You could argue that Basham,Mooae and Ampadu played as if they didnt want to play for us as they were very poor yesterday

We need much more in midfield not one can take a man on and beat him.

Don’t speak like that. You know stuff like that is banned at the club.

Who was the last player we had who could genuinely take people on, Brooks?

He had a dozen good games at the start of the last season but he's done next to nothing now for well over a year.

Because he can run he may be able to find a place in the squad of a highly structured team with a very well defined system - say, Burnley.

I can't think of any other PL side who would want him. Nor any of the likely promotion contenders.

Fleck signed his new long term contract on 22nd Feb, a few weeks before lockdown. Since coming back from lockdown he's been our second worse player behind norwood. He's fat. he's slow and he's tactically inept, wilder's playing his to get him abit more confidence and to try and rediscover his form but ultimately he's wank. He's finished
