Lundstram = Dean Hammond

What were you watching? He tried some lovely through balls to the front men, looked good with both feet and yes, passed it around comfortably.....looked a good footballer

Oh FFS.....How on earth can you judge a player on the strength of 45 minutes in a meaningless friendly!!! FFFFF FS

I disagree with the OP but I equally disagree with the volatility people have shown a differing view point. It discourages other people coming forward with opinions that don't perfectly fit what the forum appears to have concluded is the correct opinion. Which isn't very healthy for what is meant to be a discussion forum.

I went to the Eastleigh game Friday night, and Lundstram came on in the second Half, I have to be honest and say, he seriously reminded me of Dean Hammond, for this main reason, he was seriously predictable, every time he got the ball, it would go sideways, not once did he look up to play the ball forward, or an attacking area.

I hope I'm wrong but he really did remind me of Dean Hammond

He looks a bit like im anall

I'm afraid some remarks are either plain daft or quite transparent attention-seeking. In either case they are likely to meet with robust responses. Debate isn't always tea and cakes...

Incidentally, as another poster has hinted, Dean Hammond was a very good player for the vast majority of his career. Far better than one or two risible Bladey 'legends'.

I thought is was for chat?

mmmm chicken chat!

:)

I haven't seen a minute of Lundstram this pre-season, but I've already decided without any foundation that he's the second coming of Matthew Spring.

Have a like. It's not very often someone can mention a player who I had completely forgotten about.

it's killing some of our fans who are praying we struggle

Name 'em. Five will do, but I need some proof.

You're fully entitled to your your opinion mate especially as you were one one the few members on here that actually attended the game.

That said, I personally think that it's very harsh to liken a young player who'd only arrived at the club 2-3 days before and barely trained with us, to one of the biggest waste of money in the history of our club after he'd played just 45 minutes. You wouldn't expect the same stick if you'd just started a new job and barely found your feet would you?

Reports from his previous club are that he's a talented young player on the up, and the main criticism from Oxford fans was that he was actually too ambitious with his passing, often looking for the killer pass, so maybe he was just playing it safe till he gets to know his team mates and was playing to instructions? IF he has any bad habits akin to Hammond's style, it's up to Wilder and his team to put him right mate. He's young enough to change the way he plays, unlike Hammond who was an over the hill bag 'o shite set in his ways. I couldn't think of a worse insult than to be compared to that wage stealer TBH. Let's cut the kid some slack eh?

only 5 , thats funny

dont need to name them , they are the ones wanting players out 5 minutes after any defeat

or players out that performed so well last season
or players out who have only just tied their boots for the first time

No, I beg to differ.
If you want to say we have supporters who are "praying we struggle", then just some random posts you don't like are not proof enough of this.
Name the names or stop posting such nonsense, I think that's fair enough.

theres blades that still think they know better than CW what we need are you denying that
fans who think if Hanson plays 5 minutes weve failed , Ive actually read that bollocks

hows that backing the club

I'm sure there are, and I don't think it's "backing the club".
I also don't think it's "praying we struggle", which is what you said they were doing.

People go overboard with their criticism, some of the club, some of individual players and some of the fans (at the stadium and on here).

If he's similar to a young Dean Hammond then I believe we have a bargain.

Hopefully your judgement on a footballer's ability after one game is as good as HodgysBrokenThumb. When he first saw Brian Deane play for us, he said after 15 minutes, "Who is this donkey we've just signed?". Hopefully Lundstram will prove to be a similar flop for us.

I deny that. My words were 'He'll never make a footballer'. And he had just trodden on he ball and fallen over.

Well, I for one am looking forward to seeing the lad play...

UTB!

I just can't wait for the kick off now, so we can see what the early season scapegoat form is. Is anybody keeping an eye on the odds?

COME ON you gotta be seeing this now, he's just a cheaper verison

He's made 2 appearances Walsall being his first actual start, give the guy a break he's in a completely new team different style of football and barely had a pre season with us, don't get why people have to pick a scapegoat every season not to mention comparing him to the worst midfielder who played for us in years, give him time and some substitute appearances and he'll come through in the end, he's here for a reason

Replying to your own comments? We call that self-serving where I come from.

He was captain of Oxford (not a rubbish outfit, you might think) at 23. That suggests he has more to offer than we've seen. Our scouts and coaches will have watched him repeatedly and carefully, you realise? If we were talking Blackwell, Adams, Adkins, Robson et al I wouldn't make that point, but we're not and that now carries some weight.
