Nice article, but the flollowing made me chuckle....

"The talented full-back believes sticking with United was his best option, as the Blades are renowned for giving youngsters an opportunity to flourish "........Hmmmm, bollocks surely.

""I don't know why we can't score because we've got a lot of creative players," he said."I don't know what we're missing. Perhaps we just need to relax in front of goal."

I suppose saying Ched Evans is the worst footballer to play for this club in quite some time wouldn't have been his best career move. But "I don't know why we can't score".....really, let me enlighten you....:D

The talented full-back believes sticking with United was his best option, as the Blades are renowned for giving youngsters an opportunity to flourish and current boss Gary Speed is keen to continue that tradition.

This is contrary to the opinion of most on here. maybe it should have said giving right backs an opportunity :-)

I certainly agree with the moving abroard part rather than moving to a lower league side. No matter what you are doing a spell away at a young age really helps your development, to come away from your comfort zone. Good luck to the lad

You type quicker than me Alco!

A youngster starting to establish himself in the first team, a couple just bubbling under ready and Mark Yeates coming good. Is it looking good?

No, let's not get carried away. If your horizon, like mine, is avoiding relegation and showing strong signs of a turnaround in the cluture of the club and the way we play, it's looking good. If your horizon is pushing for promotion then until we introduce (sign) more pace and flair, we're far too limited to be a force in any way.

This isn't really a link about the state of the club or this season as a whole but about Lowton and I alco and I both picked up on the youngsters given a chance line that most people would find amusing. It is great to see Lowton getting a chance and Slew on the bench. From the start of the season most people would have liked to see pace in the side and if Ward is not going to start up front then on the left is fine with Yeates on the right. The thing with Yeates is that at the moment he is hot but he will probably go 5 games in a row when he does nothing. He also flatters to deceive and needs to work on his final ball. Then again if he was a winger that didn't blow hot and cold he wouldn't be playing for a us.
I still think that we are good enough to get in the play offs, this league is all about confidence and at the moment we are building ours.

I just didn't want to start another thread on the whether the club was on the way up or the last 2 games have been a blip before we begin our 'inviteable' according to some on here descent into non league football. I then expanded more than you did Boo so for this I am guilty as charged :-)

Ah, missed your point, sorry. Yes, from a youngsters point of view it's looking good. That really says more (and this isn't a dig, just reality in my eyes) about our invesment on the squad of late, than any other measure. But as a youngser I'd rather be around us now than say 5 years ago.

let's hope he doesn't play too well then (sic).. or he'll be out the door to spurs at xmas :-/

Got to say, but bringing Lowton through was Mr Blackwell's final legacy.

Speed has then taken the decision to continue this development and bring him on further...

I like the look of Lowton, not afraid to get stuck in (has a cracking discipline record) and has already started weighing in with a goal.

I hope he continues to develop and turns into a decent midfielder. Seems that Speed isn't afraid to try him in the middle and it was obviously a risk when we were chasing the game to bring him on in the midfield.

Well done Lowton, Well done Speed.

I've got a red flashing light on my desk at work, it goes off when someone mentions Blackwell and it has been in meltdown this afternoon.

Is my input required?

There is only one person missing Blackwell so you musthave the same call system for Olle

how about we have a post which doesn't turn into point scoring.

You all are really pathetic, which ever side your on.

Keep it up Lowton!

Hope the lad does well & progresses!

I was jumping around like a loon when he scored on Saturday

Well I'm on the side of banter. Well worth trying if you don't take yourself too seriously.

Where is the banter? I don't take myself too seriously, however this post was all about Lowton, not Blackwell or whatever. We have plenty of posts for people to do their broadswipes at each other.

Apologies, I brought up Mr Blackwell, but it was only banter
