Lowton to Villa £3m

He is a 3rd division full back. If Villa want to take a punt on him we will sell him as he would rightly want to leave. I would be amazed if we got over a million quid for him. How much do 3rd tier fullbacks go for these days?

Now don't get me wrong, I like and rate Matt; but am I the only one that thinks he's not quite good enough for a side that would be disappointed with anything less than a top half Premier finish?
Agreed. Great when he gets forward but poor at times defensively, particularly against pace. Struggled against some League 1 players so be surprised if he could cut it at Prem level. Perhaps they would play him in midfield - which is where I think we should.

Defensively, I agree he is definitely not ready for the top level, never mind a club like Aston Villa. If he seriously wants to develop his career I think he needs to have another year or two in the Championship to learn and improve the defensive side of his game before he tries to make the step up. Like I said in my previous post, players like Clyne and Gunter are better at the moment.

Deano, I often think if we can sign a right back and stick Lowton on the right wing he could really do some damage for us. He's great going forward, it's without a doubt his best asset. Again though, Premier League standard? I'm not quite sure.

He may be a League One full back but Aston Villa may be about to make him a Premiership midfielder. How much do they go for?

6 figures i bet not 7. oh and extras on top when he plays for england, villa win the league etc etc

Maybe someone would play him up front in the Premier League is he now worth 50 million? No he is a 3rd tier full back and will be sold for a value which represents this fact. Thats life.

Please no!! If he is losing Kmac and Willo and has no money do we have a choice ?

An initial £3m being reported by both the Mail and Telegraph, who are saying the signings been done. Would be surprised if it's that much - seems a lot for a League 1 player.

If thats true than that values him at around 30% of the value of Jordi Alba. Incredible deal.

Sad loss for us and difficult to replace for next season. £3M plus (hopefully) add-ons is a good deal though for a League 1 club and a move was always likely.

Can't say I'm surprised but i am surprised we got decent money for once. Don't know what Lambert is thinking if he thinks Lowton will be good enough for the Villa team.
Wonder how much of the £3m will be re-invested in the current squad ???

Good player and it would be a shame to see him go, but £3m would be a very good deal. He may well prove me wrong, but he doesn't strike me as a Premier League quality player.

Decent player but 3 million may just fund a promotion push... He'd be mad not to give it a go as lambert strikes me as a decent manager.

Can't remember who it was that I slaughtered for saying that a premiership club would pay 3 million for him, but if this deal comes to pass than I offer my humble apologies.

The world has literally gone mad. But In a good way for us mccabes pockets

£3M seems a fair price. Lowton is a good player but a any player worth £3M shouldn't be playing 3rd division football so he goes with my blessing, which I'm sure he'll be pleased about. ;)

You read it wrong he has gone

I agree Swiss, a very good deal as far as I'm concerned ............ as long as the £3m ends up in the playing squad and not in McCabe's deep pockets

p.s and I don't mean funding Monty and Quinn's etc high wages for the last year of their contracts

Good deal if we get £3m up front. I reckon we'll see a third, maybe half of the transfer fee (if it is a full £3m, not add-ons etc.) being invested into the side.

It'd be naive to think we'll spend all the money on bringing in players, you don't need to spend that much to get out of this division.

I intentionally stated the promotion push part, but I think we all know that the majority of the 3 million will go to McCabe.

On one hand gives us porter, on the other takes away Lowton...

I love being a blade.

Seriously though, good luck to the lad. Has done well, been loyal and always just got on with being a blade

Well we have to invest some cash now we have a huge gaping hole down the right side of the team, and no replacements.

Good deal though of course it is a shame to see him go. He still has a lot to learn defensively and would be surprised to see him get more than 5 games for Villa the coming season. Good luck to him

Apparently the deal is going through because he will get thrown straight into the first team squad...

Has the club confirmed it yet?

Anything over £1mil is a good deal so £3mil would be fantastic. Lets hope we can see some signings now - Beavon first

The Press Association just reporting that the fee will be 'undisclosed'. Thats more like it.
