The median average age of that team is 20 so I think it is a record
I see, I didnt know what a median average is, looked up in google, saw this

and I still dont understand it! Thanks anyway

its the age of the one in the middle -the 6 th oldest in a team of 11. It give a much better result when you have a big spread of numbers to average. Mean average, which is what you are using, would say that a team of 10 18 year olds and one 40 year old was older than a team of 10 20 year olds and one 19 year old.

Median, just means the 'one in the middle' of a series of numbers:

The ages from the post above are:

Hodgkinson (29)
Badger (20)
B.Shaw (20)
Barlow (19)
Matthewson (26)
B.Wagstaff (20)
Woodward (19)
T.Wagstaff (22)
Jones (20)
Birchenall (20)
Fenoughty (24)

In order its: 19,19,20,20,20,20,20,22,24,26,29

The one in the middle is 20! This is the median.

The mean average is the total of ages divided by the number of players, and this is what people usually mean when they say the 'average' In this case it's 21.7

When I looked up last night I noticed that there were many teenagers in our league cup line up at Plymouth in October 1964, worked out the average age but the ages of Brian Richardson and Graham Shaw made it too high. Will check the line up again and ages etc tonight

kin' ell young Louis will be 17 by the time this one is settled!

Poor lad couldn't even drive himself home after making his debut, now that is young!

I think he's a Barnsley fan.

No he's a Blade. His brother is also in the academy. He was a bit of a Man U fan because he was in their academy at a very young age, but embraced his blade-ness since joining our academy. That lad's one of us.

Would it not depend on which year they were formed? ;)
