Other than 'loads of hype' you've not really said anything to make this a red flag. It's a loan with no obligations, sooooo, the perfect way to try a player.

Not sure whare the down side is, unless of course folk only see, big money, permanent signings as 'good and we have VERY good evidence to suggest paying big, on punt players, comes with some BIG downsides.
The down side that its been set up by our new manager (boo, hiss) backed by our new owners (boo, hiss) and we can't trust anything they do because well, they're just not Blades!!!

It’s a big money loan and looking some other fans comments he seems to be highly rated and I just don’t see why. To be he doesn’t look to be an improvement on Rak-Sakyi.

it’s fine for squad depth I just don’t see how he massively improves our first 11.

I just hope we use him better that Rak-Sakyi - who i still don't think we got the best out of. Also I still can't get my head around why he was not involved at Wembley!!!
That's the key part. Seen a few comments that JRS wasn't very good for us, despite his attacking numbers indicating the complete opposite.

Bigger issue was exactly as you said - we did a very poor job of utilising him to his strengths.

Fingers crossed that if/when we get this Barry deal over the line, we're able to take advantage of his strengths more. I mentioned in this thread already that he finished last season as Stockport's top scorer, despite not playing for them in 2025. Someone who poses that level of threat should be thoroughly exciting to watch.

Big Money Loan? Has it been publicised how much it's costing us?

Personally I'd like to see a rb ( I was hoping the Korean lad was more than click- bait ) ,Phillips (6m)and Alzate (6m ?) We've no idea of the budget still available I actually love how COH are keeping things quiet , this lad would be a good loan and a good addition to our attacking options .

He was available apparently for £3.5m so surprised we’ve not gone for a permanent if he’s any good. Reportedly the loan doesn’t include an option to buy.

Imagine if we signed him and he was Ebrelled. There would be outrage. Probably the sensible option. Villa are quite difficult to negotiate with, so probably works more in our favour as we don't have any obligations.

It was only York last night, but it looks like Selles was playing to the players' strengths.

JRS would have thrived under Selles i feel.

Barry looks like a very exciting prospect. Expecting him to be in the Burrows / Hendo class of player who can transition from L1 to Championship.

Bloody hell, he'll do for me 😍

Me too . I am not in the least put off by the fact that so far he has mainly plied his trade in the third tier .

Down the years there have been hundreds of players who have done so and gone on to be extremely successful at higher levels .

In this lad’s case, in just 23 games he scored 15 goals and had 3 assists , an achievement which I suspect will very rarely have been matched or beaten .

But it is not just about these hugely impressive statistics , but also the qualities he showed in achieving them . These included pace , positional awareness , the ability to go past several players with apparent ease and finish with either a powerful strike or by guiding the ball into the net with great accuracy .

I’m pretty confident that if we can get this lad and keep him free from injury , he will make a very positive contribution to our performances in the coming season.

My eldest says he’s reyt good on EAFC so he’s happy with the signing and his mates are jealous apparently 🤣

Watched his YouTube reel last night and he looks decent if a little lightweight and uses his left foot a lot more than given credit for on here he can certainly go on the outside
