Will we emerge from the current defensive crisis much stronger than if it had never happened?
If we'd not lost so many defenders all at once, it's extremely doubtful that the board would have sanctioned the signing of TWO new defenders.
The two new lads will now have time to train with and integrate with the rest of the squad.
We won't be left scrabbling around for last-minute replacements if we pick up any further injuries before the end of the season.

Maguire and Lowton have been able to have a short rest. Collins will have had a short physical rest, although I'd imagine he will be mentally drained.
We know that Taylor can be thrown in and do a decent job.
We know that Ertl isn't really up to the job and will now only be used again in extreme emergencies. Better to find out now than too late?

First choice defence:- Lowton, Collins, Maguire, Williams
Second choice defence:- Hill, Egan, Ertl/Morgan, Taylor

Er we might. The lad from Sunderland is only here for 28 days

With an option to extend it until the end of the season.
Presuming Hill is first choice cover for CB, I can't see Danny relying on Ertl/Morgan.
No reason why we wouldn't extend it. Particularly if the dreaded play-offs start to look more likely!
