Interested to see what we all think about our 50 mill outlay last year...in terms of the players ...not our results or amazing performances...?

Mousse - For me at £10mill it was a decent hit....his good points vital goals ..but main point was on his day he got the crowd and the team going ...lots of minuses ...i.e stats ..but worst case i reckon we ge £5 mill back from someone who wants to take a punt on him..best case...he gets fit ...!!..not a disaster either way

Mcburnie - Lot of cash ..but only market rate i suppose - Offers something we didnt have ..just looks like he cant make that next step or still adapting to our style - Worst case might prove useful next season and either way we could probably get £10 mill back from a championship club best case he improves ..a lot ..not convinced though

Berge - Far to early really to make much comment - So early in his prem career ..he just looks like an spanish ot italian league type player...bit slower pace of play ..Worst case - he doesnt really adapt and we get most of our cash back from a foreign team - Best case ..he adapts next season ..plays well and we could make a pretty penny in the long term

overall for £50 million we havent blown the world away ...but with a level playing field we aint lost much in terms of money ..and the effect they have had on competition for places and hence our overall results has probably justified the money spent ...
 



Long term value for money for me, would, in CW`s hands particularly, be Mousset. He`s shown us that he has pace, vision and finishing ability. He`s young, and all being well he might prove to be a belter of a bargain time goes on.
 
McBurnie has improved as the seasons gone on. He’s grown into the system and runs himself into the ground every game. Needs to add more goals, but so does the team overall. Had a bit of a worry with the drink driving thing, but he does seem to have knuckled down since then.

Berge is quality and will be more than fine. Just crap timing with everything going off like it has. Needs time to adjust to the PL and mesh with the rest of the players. It was always going to be about next season with him anyway.

Moose is the worry. When he’s on it, he’s quality. Trouble is he cant seem to be on it for more than about half an hour a week. I know he’s had personal issues with family and friends dying, so cant be too harsh on the lad. But to be unable to play a full 90 by the middle of March is not a good sign. Of all our players, he’s the one I really worry about with this long lay off. What condition will he come back in? Really hoping he does the business, but of these three, he’s by far the one I’m most concerned about.
 
If Wilder wanted any of these players to move on which I doubt, you can be sure he’d be looking to get at least what he paid if not more.

Mousse £5m?! We paid twice that and he’s done more for us this season than for Bournemouth in three.
 
We have to realise in this division the price for players is much higher. Our standard of player that is already here shows we have to spend money and they still may be back up.

We could have spent 20m on a midfielder and he not play due to Fleck etc.

However I do see some of what you are saying. Our initial scouting was spectacular ! 11/10 no question.

But in recent times it seems to have got worse players like Callum Robinson never going to play amongst others.

It’s a big period for our transfer team they get it wrong we can be relegated! Huge task!
 
They haven’t hit the ground running. None of them. Moose had a spurt but tailed off dramatically and appears to be stamina challenged !

Some of them won’t make the grade I’m afraid. I have my suspects who 😉.

What is very clear is that the core of our promoted side from the Championship are all very good at what they do in the gaffers favoured system.

I think we have seen it often enough now to know that some fit in right away, others may need a season, and then there's some that never will.
But you have to give it a season plus to be sure and we all know Mr Wilder dunt mess about once he's made his mind up.....

We've EASILY stayed in this division and the bold statement is that we may very well have stayed in the division without signing any players to go into the first team.

CW keeps saying, for the ones that listen that his coaching staff are teachers and that the club needs to continually upgrade which is what we have tried to do in the two windows.

We will never be a man City - but once the money started coming in, they slowly but surely made the squad and therefore 1st eleven better.

I can see CW wanting to do exactly the same - Berge is hopefully the first of a few that can make us better than what we already have.

Overall - the decisions have to be correct due to where we are in the league. It's not about individuals, but he team - and the team has prospered.

The interesting thing is who/where the next changes are.

Lallana is a good player but CW signs players with resale value. Perfect example is Callum Robinson.

Preston had no choice to sell him due to his contract due up. Preston then don’t have a strong hand we buy him cheaper than his value (due to contract) he plays a few times in the premier league and now goes back to championship on loan.

We will be making a profit on him. (Although with this virus don’t know about market but the thinking is still there.
