Looks pretty likely at this point that Godfrey, Bindon and potentially Barry will be returning to their parent clubs in January, freeing us up for a bit of a loan binge.

Looking at the areas we'd need to strengthen, that leaves a space at right-back, centre-back and on the wing. Here's a few suggestions, based on ability, experience and who's not getting minutes at their parent clubs:

Centre Back:

Willy Boly (Nottingham Forest):
Not getting any minutes at Forest for the second consecutive season. Would tick Wilder's boxes as a natural leader and no-nonsense defender.

Tyler Fredricson (Man United):
Would be risky, calling on a 20-year-old with limited experience. He's an excellent prospect and looked every bit a premier-league player on his debut against Wolves last season.

Eiran Cashin (Brighton):
Currently on loan at Birmingham - but has played just 166 minutes of football this season, as Birmingham clearly prefer Screamin' Jack. Wouldn't be surprised if Brighton call him back. An excellent centre-back who was putting in league-leading numbers at Derby before a big-money move to Brighton.

Right Back:

Emil Krafth (Newcastle):
Not one to get fans off their arses, but a defensively solid and experienced right-back who isn't getting in ahead of Trippier and Livramento.

Nathanial Clyne (Crystal Palace):
Just 4 minutes of premier league action this season. 6 months with the Blades got his team-mate Rob Holding a cushy MLS job - might fancy the same for himself.

Sam Byram (Leeds):
Played a lot of football over the past few seasons for Leeds, but now third in line behind Bogle and James Justin. With 6 months left on his contract, it's in his best interest to put himself in the shop window.

Winger:

Tom Watson (Brighton):
Finding it hard to break into a Brighton team full of exciting technical players. He kind of owes us.

Romain Esse (Crystal Palace):
Great talent who'd be more than comfortable in the Championship. As long as he doesn't ask his mate Jes Rak-Sakyi what he thinks of Wilder.

Marcus Edwards (Burnley):
Bit of a long shot - but Burnley's star loan-man last season has played just 5 minutes of premier league football this season, with Parker not trusting his defensive capabilities at premier-league level. Would offer that directness and flair our attack desperately needs.

We dont need another CB

We dont play with wingers

We need a striker or two

So I would say

RB
ST
MD
We'll need another CB if Bindon and Godfrey goes. Would literally leave Zatterstrom as our only backup for Mee, Tanganga and McGuinness, unless I'm forgetting someone?

I think Wilder would like the freedom to be able to use a back 4 system. He's using a back 5 because we don't have reliable wingers, or a right-back with good defensive ability.

Cashin and Boly sound like good options.

I really, really think we need upgrades on Mee and McGuinness. They’re fine to build out the squad but the fact they’re starting is one of the reasons we’re so shit.

Need to replace Ogbene with a right winger if Seriki isn’t fit, need a big bastard up front that’s used to playing up front on his own. Doesn’t need to the the best just needs to be able to disrupt, bit like Smith always does to us.

We’ve got not money as our owners have blown it all in the wrong places on the wrong people.

Dot expect massive incomings on Jan and I wouldnt trust wilder to sped it wisely anyhow.

Choudary sounds sensible to me as he can play RB, CM and CB if needed.

A CM is badly needed as we are so lightweight in there with players either injured, too young, too old.

And a striker or even two.

Outgoings as others say Godfrey, Bindon, Barry all have been terrible loans.

That means 3 loan spaces and a permanent signing that sounds about right to me.

I want to see fit, physical, leaders come through the door to help with the inevitable relegation battle … no gambles on young players from the prem…

Shea Lacey 18 Man U

Nominally a winger but he’s more of a modern versatile attacking player than and out and out winger. Left footed technically gifted but has a slight build which you’d expect given his age and position likes to dribble, likes to cut inside and shoot but also likes to roam around and find pockets of space. He’s very much a McAtee type player and obviously we’d hope he could be as good if he continues to develop.

Will likely go on loan in Jan and he’s very highly rated over the Pennines. He’s meant to be getting prem interest but you’ve got to think if Man U have their heads screwed on like with City’s youngsters he’ll go to the Championship where he’s guaranteed a shot at being a starter rather than a desperation loan by teams struggling in the prem where his leash would be very short and a couple of bad appearances or time spent adjusting would see him relegated to the bench for the rest of the season.

Whilst he’d likely take time to acclimatise in the Championship as well it would be good to get a foot in the door and be near the front of the queue to take him on loan again next season, which is likely to be when a big breakout comes for him after he’s got a first taste of men’s football, by taking him now giving him hopefully a good experience and getting his ear that we’d be a good place for him to come back to to continue to develop.

He’ll likely experience a welcome to men’s football moment or two like McAtee did against Luton and then it’ll be all on how he responds to that if like McAtee he’s got the right character and he goes away and grafts he could develop into a similarly special player.

We need a striker who puts his self about and can finish, a midfielder who can control the middle and isn't frightened of shooting, Arblaster?, also a strong right back as Seriki isn't the answer and he's not Wilder's favourite anyway. Send Godfrey, Barry & Bindon back
p.s. don't let wilder blow another £10m on a dud!

Swap Bindon for Joe Worrall, don't know if he's even available but if we're talking about genuine competition for Tanganga, McGuinness and Mee he's definitely good enough.

Swap Barry for David Brooks, a bit of wishful thinking but he's not always in the Bournemouth team and was rumoured to be joining WBA last summer.

Swap Godfrey for Sam Byram, not the best player but has played both RB and LB for Leeds so can cover both sides if needed.

I know it is but peck, blaster, matos and Soumare are all young bloods with not much of a track record between them.

Pecks out of form , blaster injured

Davies incapable of putting more than two games together

Reidwald we can’t judge yet

O’hare is more of an attacker than a CM

Hamer wants out and has downed tools as far as I’m concerned

So really we have 4 we can rely on

Peck, Soumare , Matos, Reidwald

We need one more CM

Why do we need Hamza if we are signing Reidwald, unless he is going to be played at RWB

I think if we were moving to a proper back 4 like we had last season, Choudhury would be a sensible signing for RB.

Not sure he'd be my first choice in January but I wouldn't be against it, given that he's already known to CW who will know what his strengths/weaknesses are.

If we do sign him as a RB, you'd probably line up like this.

Choudhury-Tanganga-McGuinness-Burrows

But that would mean dropping Mee and I'm pretty sure that CW has already said he wants Mee to start games (might have been press conference post-Oxford).

He's also not going to drop McGuinness unless it's for Souttar or someone like him, otherwise we lose that big physical presence in defence.

CB: Ethan Pinnock (loan)
CM: Tim Iroegbunam (loan)
RW: Tyrique George (loan)

Hopefully enough money to chase Ross McCrorie from Bristol City for right back, he might only have six months left on his deal if they don’t have an option. Also Yousef Salech from Cardiff as the striker. We’ll probably end up with Choudhury, Souttar and Ashley Barnes.

Big fan of all those suggestions

I actually wouldn't mind seeing Bindon play alongside Mee, he's not been given a chance under Wilder so he's being judged on those car crash first 6 games when everyone very poor.

And McGuinness is shockingly bad.

mcguinness is a league 1 centre back imo so maybe bindon has been a bit unlucky not to get in would definetly take choudray hes versatile and can cover 2 or 3 positions 2 strikers needed imo and one has to be a physical type to hold the ball up

Agree on Choudhury and we definitely need a big bugger up top, a Billy Whitehurst/Darius Henderson/Wayne Allison/Gary Madine type who will bully defenders and cause problems.

A cheeky enquiry about Evan Ferguson from Brighton? On loan at Roma at the minute but not getting game time and they want to send him back in Jan. Not sure if he would have many prem suitors off the back of that?
