so as far as I know we have Reed, Whiteman and Long out on loan?

Do we have recall clauses on these as given Coutts out for season and potential injuries to any of our keepers we may need them in the busy Christmas period.

Also who is coaching the kids these days? Longer term we could get Sharp involved here in the interim could we get someone like Morgan in who always did well in that role ?

Yes.
Travis Binnion and John Dungworth with support from Del Geary and a few, very good others.

Morgan would be perfect for that role.

Also Wilson and Hussey. Whiteman is on loan until January so the club will decide on that soon I would imagine.

All the others are season loans so I can’t see any of them returning.

Wilder has already stated that whiteman will be on loan for the whole season

Don't see why there's so much panic, it's not as if we haven't got 3 or 4 players that can play on midfield is it.

I don’t think he has and he would be foolish to do so given we may get more injuries in the games up to Christmas.

Well, he has: https://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?posts/1507063/

As has already been stated though, this was before the Coutts injury. And as we have seen with Brooks, Wilder deciding one thing on a loan doesn’t mean to say he can’t change his mind as situations change.

Ok, I didn’t listen to the Chris Wilder special on Football Heaven.

I think everyone’s intention is Whiteman will extend the loan but I can’t see that being agreed this early in case there are further injuries. Even if paperwork is signed now I would think it can’t come into force until 1 January anyway so we could withdraw.

But Coutts was a bench warmer/poor under previous regimes, perhaps Wilder/Knill can improve him?

I’m sure they can mate and I wish him all the best. However, we have more pressing matters between now and April than developing Ben Whiteman. I’m afraid Bladey Blades continue to see things as they would like them to be, resulting in warped priorities.

Who said that?

Why the speculation, then? He’s nowhere near good enough, at the moment and for the foreseeable future, for our team, not if we seriously aspire to do something special this season. We need a quality replacement for Couttsy, not a kid who might be a player one day.

No speculation here M’lud. Merely pointing out that Tufty’s insistence that Whiteman will remain at Donny came before Coutts’ injury. He may now elect to recall him because of said injury.

To what point or purpose? We’ve lost our best player. We need someone of similar quality to help us grasp a golden opportunity. Send for a Doncaster substitute?

I despair.

John Fleck is fit as far as I know. :D

Maybe we should go in for Connor Coady in Jan?

Coady is playing a sort of sweeper role for Wolves as an integral part of their back three, and is being talked about as their player of the season so far. Don't think we'll be getting him.

A terrific player. It’s a joy to watch him and Duffy too. Our best football, however, always has a common thread running through it. We shall miss Couttsy badly and the solution doesn’t lie in Ben Whiteman. It’s a ridiculous Bladey Boyband notion.

I think we should look at giving Louis Reed a recall, as he has assisted a goal for Chesterfield, and as someone also said last week, Elliott Whitehouse is a first team regular for Lincoln so he must be worth a look as well.

Who would you go for Pinch?

Lundstram gets first refusal. Despite what people think, he played the Couttsy role when captain of Oxford. He’s self-evidently not as good as Coutts; very few are but Tufty will give him his chance. He’s a good player. Samir will be used more often as well. We need to bear in mind that one of the many great characteristics of Tuftyball is that it’s a 14 man game, flexible and adaptable.

The injury has changed the JTW landscape. I’ll be astonished if a ball playing general in the Coutts mode isn’t now the overriding recruitment priority. I’m not a great watcher of other clubs so I’ll leave suggestions to others. Someone who loves the ball at his feet, plays with his head up and sees the bigger picture. If he were not injured, I’d go for the former Derby midfielder Paul Coutts...
