Though at the beginning of the season this was a team we need to get points of, which we have. What has surprised me is the money they've spent over the last 2 1/2 seasons. £205 million with hardly any income from sales. Have to say they had really good numbers on Saturday. No longer Little Brighton.

How much have Villa spent this season?
That’s the thing with the PL. Clubs get £100m every season. As a minimum. So they spend it on players. They’re football clubs so that’s the sensible thing to spend your money on.

Doesn't seem like that much when you think even we can now say we've spent £22m on Berge, £20m on McBurnie, £10m on Mousset. And then I don't remember what Robinson and Freeman were off the top of my head, plus loan fees. But we're talking more than £60m so far.

Robbo was abaht £8m, Freeman £4m..

Who the hell have Brighton spent 200m on? Wow. I know Maupay and Webster were 20m each..

If we're basing size of club on away following and money spunked, how big must Wednesday be? Off the Richter.

They've bought a load of average players at extremely high fees. They've also not identified any players with potential to develop - none of the below (with the possible exception of Maupay) are even worth what Brighton paid for them; the only two players they've bought and sold since promotion went for a loss.

Look down the list of signings: those in bold are still in their first team and they account for just on half of the overall spending. Their scouting department is clearly not functioning - maybe they're just looking at the statistics without putting the effort into understanding the players' characters?

jahanbakhsh is worth more in a game of scramble than as a footballer

some real shit in there, Norwood is worth 4times what Mooy is, not tother way round

their scouting system is obviously a pubescent teenager who alternates between football manager 17/18 and craigslist

Yeah, they were aware that they were pissing money away on shite, which is why they’ve recruited Dan Ashworth who was the former DoF of West Brom when they were decent and more recently working with England and the FA. That’s why this year’s lot have been more successful than previous seasons.

Jahanbakhsh, Bernardo, Montoya and Burn should all be in bold.

Some of the others like Clarke (perfect JOC replacement) and Lamptey are young English players with potential. And personally I think Trossard is a reyt player.

Agree that there is some shite included, but it has kept them in the league.

They didn't look that little to me! Dunk, Duffy, Webster and Burn must have an average height of about 6'4"!

That’s not exactly breaking the bank given the premiership riches. Are people forgetting we had one of the highest spends on Europe this season.

200m over 2.5 seasons = 80m per season. We have spend 60+ this year....

Not sure how true it is but teams rarely pay the quoted cost of a transfer in one lump sum. Sometimes payments are staged over one or more seasons?
Applies to us and minnows like Brighton and Bournemouth.
