I am sure that the majority view that Ched will leave on financial grounds will be how it plays out.

If this is the case, I want to be one of the first to state that I fully expect him to develop his potential at another club (probably Championship), score a good few goals and treble his value within 12 months.

We really do know how to ruin a decent striker !

As a player I think he has far more to offer and if we can get a side that knocks it about a bit then he'll do well (plus Ched has much more pace).

I cannot recall any times last season Ched got onto a through ball and raced away from a defender / group of defenders to create a one on one and score. I cannot recall any time that Ched outpaced anyone to get to the front post to connect with a cross. I cannot recall any occasion that Ched outpaced his marker and stuck his noggin on a far post cross, busting a gut to get there to create the opportunity to score.

Ched is avarage in the pace department at best but is at least half a yard slower in his head than most defenders he plays against. That's one of the reasons he looks so ineffective.

Cannot believe that still, after nearly two years of dross, anyone can keep on bumming him up.

I've said before, I don't pay the wages, so the only concern I have that if the accountants at the club say we can afford him then the wage issue is done for me.

As a player I think he has far more to offer and if we can get a side that knocks it about a bit then he'll do well, similar to Billy in that respect, but not in the goal poaching sense (plus Ched has much more pace)

I noticed first half on Saturday that Slew was adopting a Ched style of play. He was getting no luck up front, so started drifting out wide on a number of occasions where he was ineffective.

So here goes - If we're going to keep Hendo or play with a very immobile centre forward like Henderson, then Ched may as well be sold. If we're going to bring in a Centre Forward that is more mobile and encourages the ball to feet, then Ched/ Slew could be a decent partner for them. Micky/ Corky have their work cut out if not.

Alternatively, we stick with an immobile Centre Forward and play just one up front.

The truth is Swiss that, wether the Hendo fans see it or not, Henderson has failed to gel with ANY of the strike partners he has been given. I have offered reasons as to why this might be previously and wont be going over it again other than to state Henderson is gash and should be taxi'd out of the club asap.

The truth is Swiss that, wether the Hendo fans see it or not, Henderson has failed to gel with ANY of the strike partners he has been given. I have offered reasons as to why this might be previously and wont be going over it again other than to state Henderson is gash and should be taxi'd out of the club asap.

A subtle change to that statement would be that the other players have failed to gel with Hendo not that Hendo has failed to gel with them.

Hendo was the big money signing at the time, the man to fill Beaties boots and on his day he's very difficult to play against. But the problem is, he works better as a lone striker in a 4-3-3 (see 5-4-1) formation. Thats where he'll get his goals. However, it leaves little room for a partner because of the way that the ball doesn't always stick. Perhaps the only player that could partner Hendo would be another Hendo type player.

None of this means that Hendo or the strike partners have been bad players it just means that they can't play together.

It's obvious that Ched works well with players in the Bent/ Vokes mould and I'd think that Slew would work the same... Danny Webber in his day alongside Vokes would be an interesting partnership

As nothing he's done in the last 2 years has worked well, I'm not sure what's obvious about that?

He was vastly improved in his first game alongside Bent and looked excellent alongside Vokes, that much was obvious

"Vastly improved" I can go with.

"Excellent"? Err, no. Way short of even approaching excellent.

I can't see a case for anyone getting paid more than 5k per week next season. If some of our "stars" are willing to play under such circumstances then fair do's. If they aren't (as I suspect) then they've got to go. We can't afford the luxury salaries where we now find ourselves.
