Despite the fact he says a lot, I think Adkins is quite clever at not really giving much away in interviews. Just listened to the latest one on audioboom and again he fills it with his positive soundbites, repeats them a lot, and just says what he feels will get him through it without giving away anything he doesn't want to. When asked about injuries for example all we got was that Harris is having an operation and absolutely nowt else. Doesn't make scintillating listening but fair play to him. Same on being asked about players we might be looking at - why should he divulge stuff like that? He could just say no comment but that would probably be interpreted one way or another, so he basically gives a non-committal bit of waffle and the interviewer just leaves it at that. Pretty pointless most of it really.

completely agree, I always find he starts off a sentence, then fills it with waffle before coming back an almost repeats the first sentence (such as the "well it's a praise and a grumble" comment)

this was an interview at the meet the manager (16th July i think) which states

'I ain't getting rid of Jamie Murphy' 'Football is buisness so if we get an offer down the line we might have to accept'

so with this being less than a month from when the actual offer was accepted and at this point he is stating "if we get an offer down the line" which to me infers we havent had one as yet..

I am also fairly surely it was reiterrated under questioning from Jonathan Buchan (sp) closer to the start of the season too

so whether its an "outright lie" or someone being extremely economical with the truth, it's not great imo...

That is in no way contradicted by the fact that Murphy left. In fact if anything it is supported by Murphy's statement.

I think he gave the best answer possible in the circumstances.

The main issue though is the manager and/or co-Chair being called "liars" which I think is utterly unwarranted, unacceptable, and potentially harmful to the club.

fans will always dissect, the issue raised in the OP however isnt whether Murphy wanted to go, the question is raised was when previously asked the club (Adkins and Phipps) had previoulsy stated that NO OFFERS HAD BEEN MADE (this is obviously different from interest has been shown, which had been reported in various media outlets and what prompted the question in the Meet the Manager session in the first place)

the manager stated in a recent interview that we had been rejecting offers for a month (which, if the case then the video is proof of him lying/being economical with the truth as per the Meet the Manager video) (which is what was asked of the OP and provided by me... the fact it doesnt go sit with your views shouldnt mean its easily dismissed with "this is all getting a bit forensic" as usually you have to scratch the surface to uncover truths.

either
on the 16th of July offers had been made for Murphy and the club had rejected them - thus lying when inferring no offers had been recieved
or
on the 14th July when stating that offers had been rejected for the past month (as a show of "we tried to keep him honest") was less than truthful

both statements cannot be true.... either the time period for the offers coming in was a lot shorter (which would lead fans to think maybe they hadnt tried as hard as they might to keep him) or bids were present at the meet the manager. As I was taught if you are going to lie over something so unassuming, that wouldnt really matter in the grand scheme of things then you will lie (be econimical with the truth) about other things...
