Just in case someone at the club reads this site.
It seems that successive managers don't understand the club. Therefore, Kevin McCabe doesn't seem to get it. I watched the fans forum that he did. He kept on talking about our club being cursed. Well thats a great message to be giving out to rally the troops, eh?

Yes we have had to have been in those play offs and cup semi finals to lose them. We have succeeded in getting there.

But moving forward, lets explain what this club is about.
We like a team that battles for the cause, never gives up, puts in a shift, plays for the shirt. HAS A GO.
Thats all we ask. Then the crowd gets behind the team. Then the players rise to the occasion. Then you get promoted.
All you superb, loyal and patient of supporters out there. Write here what this club is about. Explain it to the dopes in charge, who don't seem to understand.

Agree with the OP.

Need to mention the curse of Bramall Lane too if we are going for full disclosure.

Selling, and blaming the manager.

pommpey

Instead of
  • endeavour,
  • game management,
  • fast tempo football providing its not too hot,
  • pathway for youth
Show us
  • 11 players who at the very least create the impression that they give a fuck about playing for us
  • Ability to change formation when teams cotton onto yours and start over running us.
  • 2 fucking centre halves who are strong, and at least once of them fast
  • A pacey midfield not out for a final pay day that has the ability to put a foot into challenges, create chances, and maybe even score a few

Sort all this out and you can waffle as much cliche riddled shite as you like 46 times next season, and I will personally click like on every WHF review of them all!

Correct what the club hasn't got is simple real LEADERSHIP

I'm sick of talking about what the club's identity is, what we should expect and the things we as Blades supporters value. It's all bullshit and waffle, just a different spin on the same bullshit spouted by the directors.

What we ought to focus on as a club is evaluating what it takes to succeed in the league we have been stuck in for six seasons. It starts with a manager that focuses on improving the players we have, knowing their strengths and weaknesses and not simply jettisoning them or forcing them to play in a way that they can't. Slowly but surely you make additions that will adapt the team's capabilities to a closer resemblance of what you ideally want them to do.

Adaptability is a very important trait in managers. Sam Allardyce is a perfect example of an adaptable manager that can make the best of what he has until he's in a position to change it. There are others. It's easy to win successive promotions when all of the right ingredients are put at your feet, when you have to build something from a core, then you prove your worth. You can do that one of two ways:-

1. I reiterate, improve what you have. Work with them on the training ground. Any player can improve at any age, no one ever stops learning. I've seen very few improved players this season. We've failed in that respect.

2. The scouting network and management must identify suitable talent and invest in them by whatever means necessary if they are the right player to make the team better. That means identifying the right attitude and hunger, not just their ability. Championship journeymen who have spent years failing don't qualify. We have failed on this also.

I don't have all the answers. I'm just a supporter but I can identify the basics. At a level where your resources and facilities are outweigh 90% of the teams the basics should be all you need.

To be fair, while he is not the best player (although not the worst), Woolford did put a shift in yesterday, had a crack at goal (shot over), and was still jeered off by a section of our supporters.

I always want players to give 100%, but for some section of our supporters, that is never going to be enough.

I can understand the frustration of the fans, including me, because we have been in this league too long, and some of the teams that have visited BDTBL in recent weeks, you are left scratching your head and wondering how they are above us in the table.

Like I said, not the best player, but I would say that Woolford is a grafter. Decent bench option, like Basham.

This is just one game the fans remember all the other poor performances that Woolford played, As far as putting a shift in , I would consider a shift is what Billy sharp gives us week after week, Woolford is not even a third of sharps effort.

We're just a football club like any other. We've fewer fans than some, and more than a lot of others. We're happy when we're winning and pissed off when we are performing at a lower level than we believe we should be. It's that simple.

Make us win and we'll be happy again. Let's not over complicate things.

Could someone explain what the title of the threads about ?

This football club is about complete and utter abject failure on every level every single time.

It's about not turning up to big matches and falling at the final hurdle when it really matters.

It's about spineless wankers who havent got the balls to put in a performance and get the job done.

It's about selling our best players and fans shouting vile abuse at managers they don't like.

Think that pretty much covers it.

Good thread.

The culture at the club seems to be a massive problem and educating players and managers about what's acceptable, what isn't, and what we expect could go a long way towards sorting it out.
We could have a great chance of doing this with a lot of new players and a new manager potentially coming in, letting them know what we're about right from the start and weeding out the losing mentality.

I look at Atletico Madrid and I'm jealous. All their achievements aside, they have a group of players who know exactly what the club's all about and they give everything they've got for each other, the manager and the fans. It's carried them a hell of a long way. They're united, they have a true identity.
Any success we've had in the recent past has been based on something similar - hard work and togetherness more than talent. Players giving 100% and battling for every point is what our fans came to expect, and it's not really a lot to ask. I think it's been more painful and more of a shock for us than it would be for most clubs seeing us become a team totally devoid of passion and fight (started with Robson). Having that passion and fight is the least we need to get back to. It's not a lot to ask. It should be ingrained in any manager and any player who signs for us - give your all and have a go and the supporters WILL support you, and you'll reap the rewards.
