Just got to put this down in red and white. There is loads of threads knocking about asking similar things sorry if this is getting boring now but wanted to put everything down in one post.
Transfer window in and out
According to reports Harper is on loan but we are paying his full contract wage. We have let Howard go to reading for 500k, bromby to leeds for 250k and sharp to donny on loan. Hendrie has gone to derby in a straight swap for stewart so he has signed and is not on loan.
Loans
We have now got walker for the season, Bunn til january, Treacy til january and Harper for the season. 4 in total you can name 5 loanees in the squad for any one game not sure how many can be on the pitch if what people are saying is correct only 4 can be on the pitch at any one time. Blackwell claims he is rying to get a striker in on loan next week but surely he can not play with the other 4 which means if he is on the bench he would have to come on for one of the other loanees. We only have 6 fit first team defenders only 2 of which can play centre half we can't bring another loanee in if we have 6 they can't all feature.

If any one can make more sense of this please help:thumbup:

i think harper is an exchange of contract...not a loan...i think!

Not sure how true this 'only 4 on the pitch' ruling is and as I said in another thread, Blackpool had 6 on the pitch at one point last season and that included Adam who wasn't affected by the ruling as he was on loan from Scotland i.e. another FA so he wasn't subject to the same rules.

I think we can safely presume that SUFC are fully aware of what we can and can't do after the events of the last 3 years, I suspect it'll involve maybe 1 or 2 in on loan who will not feature at the same time and then someone will be signed in January, be it Bunn, Treacy, Harper or whoever, freeing up another space or two if needs be. I keep mentioning Blackpool but they managed to juggle 21 loan players last season !

Harper is on loan until the end of the season, but only has a year of his contract to run so Reading aren't expecting him to play for them again.

I'll try my best so sit comfortably.

There are three kinds of loan - full season, half season and emergency loan. Clubs can have upto 8 registered full and half season loan players, 4 under the age of 23 and four 23 and over. They can have as many emergency loan players as they wish.

However, they can only name 5 players in their matchday squad. They can play as many of these five as they like.

Hope that helps!

True, but then a new set of rules come in outside the transfer window, 93 days and all that

That is an Emergency Loan which can be between 30 and 93 days. You can have as many of these as you like but can only field in your matchday squad five loan players of any catergory.

There are windows during which you can sign Emergency Loan players. The next one opens this weekend and lasts until last weekend in November. The one after starts 5 Febish and lasts until third thursday in March.

Don't think so, they are short term loans outside of the transfer window which are usually a month but can be up to 93 days. Emergency loans are a different thing and only supposed to be used in excpetional circumstances which is why it's supposed to apply to goalkeepers.......I think

No. It's as I said. Honest.

Unless of course you're wednesday and then you play 6 and just pay the nominal fine which follows

I agree with most of what you're saying, just not the use of the term 'emergency loans' !

Seriously. That is what they call the Emergency Loans. It is a loan that is outside the normal transfer window and can last for between 30 and 93 days.

Thats true 15k i think it was. If it were us, the fat hammer would have a field day and we would get docked points.

Harper is on loan until the end of the season, but only has a year of his contract to run so Reading aren't expecting him to play for them again.

Maybe why Reading didn't agree to a perm deal? They are no doubt fully aware we already have a large amount of loanees and by making Harper's deal a loan it limits us in what we can do in the loan market and during the 90 minutes.

Having a look around the net today it seems as though both deals are independant of each other and aren't subject to the other happening. This seems to be backed up by the fact that Harper has been paraded everywhere yet Howard's deal has yet to be reported anywhere officially.

Apparently we tried to get Harper on a permanent deal (£1M mooted) but couldn't push it through in time so agreed to take on his contract, in effect making it a loan. We are expected to try and finalise the actual transfer in January. Howard seems similar, sources in Reading are saying the paperwork has been a problem and if the sale isn't ratified (figures between £300k and £500K quoted), they'll probably announce a loan with a view to, as when he signed for us. I suppose the delay maybe that the loan can't go through until next week althouigh why it's different to Harper is anyone's guess.
