Lets say we don't sell anybody and don't sign anybody.

No in my opinion. This group of players is one of the worst ever in SUFC history - overpaid and not motivated. They've got no desire to get out of L1 because if they did they would have worked much harder to ensure we weren't relegated in the first place.

is everyone ready to get on board hms pisstheleague ? oops sorry wrong forum

Absolutely not! Brighton, Soton, Huddersfield, Bournemouth, Peterboro and many others would have embarrassed us. Why should it be much different this time around? We were relegated because our players were not good enough and badly managed to boot [or to hoof if you prefer].

Our League will be dominated by footballing teams. Under DW we may turn into one. I really hope so. It will, however, necessitate the departure of our highly paid mediocrities in favour of a little bit of modest quality. Some of it from the development squad (D-Mac for one) and most certainly some newcomers.

We need to stop clinging to inept failures and move on.

Given that we need a keeper, left back, 2 wingers and maybe a centre half and central midfielder I would say HELL NO.

For me of all the positions the no1 signing must be a keeper we can trust. George Long may be the answer long term but not straight away.

OK, we don't sell anybody and don't sign anybody.

We lost at Hartlepool 2-0 last season in the Carling Cup - I think that tells you everything you need to know.

Who's a peedo??

No excuse not to get an early night and be up and at it on Sunday mornings then.;)

Yes but now i've gone into a state of depression about whats real on tele.

Would we walk the league?

We might sleep walk out of it again exactly like last season.

We got relegated due to a number of circumstances, not least of which were very poor players with little or no pace, no organisation and bad management.
The last one may have been addressed thus taking care of the second. The first one looms large. The need for speed is now!

Would we walk the league?

Not a cat in hell's chance. I'd say we would be bottom half and maybe worst. The team lacks pace, quality skill. There is no width, a lack of creativity and poor organisation. That's without even talking about the poor defence and the injuries. Then there is the low levels of confidence, low morale, lack of desire to play for the club and generally apathy exhibited by the players. Perhaps Wilson could address certain aspects, but I believe an overhaul is needed. We've been presented with a great opportunity to clear out, rebuild and start again. We need to get moving on this and forget about these inept failures and move on!

That squad wouldn't have been relegated if Blackwell was in charge

The one that started the season might not have. The one that finished the season definately would have.....under ANY of the managers we had last season. Our squad by April/May was piss poor.

I just think Blackwell had a good win percentage because he played "hoofball". He knew the players couldn't pass so he lumped it. It worked and I remember people on here complaining we weren't playing attractive football.

My argument was would you rather win or play attractive football? We played attractive football in the middle of the pitch last season, never went forward and got relegated. If we'd just lumped it all season we could've finished a lot higher.

I think thats right too. I also believe we went down a season too early. Blackwell would have kept us up. Mid table-ish, then got the boot. That would have allowed more time for speed to work with some of the emerging youngsters and hand picked a few out to play next year.

Hindsight.

I wish dw the best tho. It isnt going to be easy as mentioned before there will be some good footballimg sides in the league next year. I just hope we take advantage of the lane and hammer a few there and take some fear factor on the road with us.

The squad was getting worse by the season.
The football was getting worse by the season.
The mythical "win percentage" was getting worse by the season.

The bloke started the "sleepwalking" into obscurity and we simply speeded the process by trying to get the utter shite he signed to actually play the game.

Blackwell is a twat.

Blackwell's away win percentage started to fall, but at home we remained very strong throughout his time here.

Our home form was actually better in 2009-10 when we finished 8th, than it was in 2008-9 when we finished 3rd. We got 44 and 42 points respectively from our home matches in those two seasons. If we'd have got anywhere near to those figures last season we'd have stayed up.

A record number of home defeats tells it's own story.

Even though I feel we might just have scraped survival under Blackwell, I don't think he would have made it to the end of the season anyway. If he was still here in say January/February this year and we were around 19th/20th or just a bit higher, can you imagine the atmosphere in the ground? The pressure upon him would have become intolerable, and the results would have suffered anyway due to this.

I just can't envisage a scenario in which Blackwell made it through to the end of the 2010/11 season. It would have been dire to watch, but we might just have scraped home if he had stayed. But we'd all still be a miserable as sin.
