Leon the gent!

Typical nonsense from fans who can't resist digs at their own player, leading goalscorer and vice-captain which shows how Wilder values him.

To say he isn't putting the effort in is quite simply ridiculous. Wilder does not carry passengers.

Look across the city at the £10m striker. He must be distraught after such a lean spell. His father is on the staff, does anybody think he could try harder and get goals. Of course not, he wants to make his dad proud and is probably trying too hard, not relaxing enough. Strikers can't turn taps on at will.

Support is making constructive criticism, not cheap jibes.

All this on a thread which appreciates Clarke as a man.

irony is that if rhodes played for us he'd probably have ten goals by now

What's he doing in front of the Leeds bus? We haven't sold another off our legends to them, have we?

Doesn’t every player stop for photos and autographs after the match?

It would be pretty piss poor if they don’t (assuming they’ve not got to be somewhere)

There was a thread recently saying should we sell Billy. Look at yesterday .he is definitely needed at the lane work effort second to none .fantastic goal .some and never happy .Leon not scoring .just like Billy a fantastic asset in our team would you really want him in any other championship side what other teams fans would be moaning about a player who' scored so many goals for us.

I wonder if he even had to bother having a shower after the game?
Another dig at one of our players from a ‘Blade’. I don’t get people like you, I really don’t. The bloke runs his blood to water every week. Yes, he’s not scoring at the moment but the bloke has been excellent this season, so cut him some slack.

Are you the bloke on the Family Stand that called Holmes and Bash a ‘useless cunt’ towards the end when both players misplaced a pass?

Billy scoring and having a good game automatically means to some our leading scorer got worse on the day than he was before. Strangely the same logic wasn't applied when Clarke was on fire and Billy was going through a lean spell, which all strikers suffer at some point. Odd that.

I don't get all these people now having a pop at Clarke.

The guy got us to the top of the table. He's had a dip in form, but what do you expect? He's in his 30s, we signed him from Bury on a free and he's had a less then auspicious career. It's not as if we spent 10 million on him.

He's been a superhero for most of the season and had given us moments that will live long in the memory.

Agreed. Clarke's early season form was due in part to Wilder's man-management and the faith he showed. Most scorers have a barren patch. Faith and confidence from Wilder is what will see Clarke through it as long he is still contributing the same work rate.

Clarke didn't have the best game yesterday but I wouldn't question his effort.

What I would say though is that he looked like Sharp did a few weeks ago - more interested in wrestling the Centre Halves than the ball on occasion.

No, I'm not that bloke, he sounds horrendous. I am in fact a 55 year long supporter who knows and recognises a player who is clearly not putting a shift in, Clarke yesterday was nothing more than a professional observer, not interested in making runs into spaces or pre-thinking of any creative attack. I agree, he has been brilliant in past games, but that is not what we are discussing is it? Yesterday he was shite, end of.

Whilst I agree he was pretty shite yesterday, the premise that he didn't "put a shift in" is quite frankly total crap.
He tried his utmost, it isn't coming off for him right now. Non triers would have been bombed out a long time ago.

In the 93rd minute we had a break, we had caught them on the offencive, a great through ball was placed into their central area, Clarke never made any attempt to run into the space to take advantage, he, in my eyes either couldn't be arsed, or hadn't the legs, either way, not good enough. If we are serious about taking this to the next level, sentiment regarding past exploits has no relevance.
