Leon - a sign of things to come

How many has he played this season ? Billys played em all

So should Billy have had two places in the side then? He;s been partnered by Done, Lavery, Chapman, Hanson and McNulty as well as Clarke.

I'm not Leon's biggest fan but it is a fact that he has made a significant contribution in the last few games. I'm not sure why you'd signal him out like that, unless it was a late night troll jamboree.

When sentiment rules we are screwed

Repetition does not make it more valid. People said respect Clarke for his goal contribution, which is nothing to do with 'sentiment'.

Why not start some threads have a pop at Done / Hanson / Wilson (delete as appropriate).?

I don't think he will be good enough in the Championship, but I can say that respectfully.
Disagree, Clarke will do a good job at a higher level, Hanson on the other hand has found his level, div 1 at best, poor movement , link up play almost non existent and goals return laughable.Make way for Ched , oh and getting rid of MC Nutty another plus .

There is no denying that Clarke has had a great end to the season and will always be remembered fondly for that.

The original post is valid in the fact that he got injured again yesterday, so there has to be worries about him being injury prone going forward especially at 32.

I just don't see him doing it next season, he's had chances in the Championship before and always ended back in League One. So for that reason I just don't see him finally cracking the Championship at the age of 32.

You would have to assume that with the imminent arrival of the Welshman, and with other potential reinforcements (Gregory ???), Leon may find his starting opportunities limited.

OP harsh in the extreme, but without the vitriolic sentiment, a valid point does exist in there. Somewhere !!!

Are we talking about the same Leon who yesterday despite being pressed for time bothered to stop and sign autographs for the kids and parents requesting them.Me included;) but that's the sentimental kind of guy I am happy to be.I believe this season has been built on an honest bunch of players. So thanks Leon .Not only for being a good bloke but for your contribution on the pitch and engendering the sheer delirium unseen at BDTBL for many a season.

Next season will show us whether he can cut it in the Championship should he be chosen and fit.I am happy to leave that to Chris and Alan but I don't think the criticism is deserved. The mind boggles.

I treat any forum as if I were speaking directly to someones face, using courtesy and respect as my default.Unsurprisingly I find reasoned responses but hey ho that's just me.I leave the vitriol to those more accustomed to it in the playground they call Westminster.

Perhaps yesterday was all a dream and I imagined we were called "United" for good reason. Some of us more than others mebbe. UTB

All this for a player that might have only just picked up a knock that would ordinarily see him miss a week or two were the season still going? He looked mobile enough on champagne duty in the celebrations.

Speaking of which, he seems to like the role of being champagne sprayer-in-chief. Mirroring his play on the pitch, in each of the below he cuts in from left of shot before delivering the champagne moment from the centre.

Promotion at Northampton

Title win at training ground

Trophy ceremony podium (note he shuffles into his preferred starting point as Sharp prepares to get the trophy)

Trophy squad picture

Consistent performances from Big Leon.

What a bizzare post.

And for the record Clarke over Hanson every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

There's some frankly disgraceful personal abuse aimed at me on this thread . What happened to the sites mantra of playing the post and not the poster ?

In my opinion Clarke has show this season EXACTLY why a player of his undoubted quality has never broken through at a higher level ....... he's not physically robust enough .

If you disagree , that's fine , I respect you and your opinion . But why adopt the mentality of a shoal of piranhas in feeding frenzy .

No one deserves to be exposed to this kind of horrific behaviour . No one should be likened to fresh food in the eyes of a man eating fish :(

I think you have set yourself up to be knocked down - sometimes, it's not what you say - it's how you say it.

You are of course right posters have different opinions and to pick one from above "he's not physically robust enough" - is, IMHO so wrong - i'd put him as possible a very good impersonation of a brick shit house. Last time I saw one like that was the short time we had O'Grady on loan.

Set myself up , by expressing a heart felt sentiment about one of our players ? Isn't that what the site is set up for ?

I respect your opinion on playing matters but please don't join the other piranhas on here , you're better than that .

Set myself up , by expressing a heart felt sentiment about one of our players ?

It was more than 'heartfelt' though, it was openly aggressive just hours after a fantastic celebration.

What's that now , 6 games ? Injured .

Thanks leon , now go and warm some other fuckers physio couch

The time for discussing players to go is most certainly NOT in the hours and days following our first trophy since 1982.

No one deserves to be exposed to this kind of horrific behaviour . No one should be likened to fresh food in the eyes of a man eating fish

To be honest, I haven't got a clue what you are talking about.

You said something pretty silly IMHO and several people have let you know, in the same robust manner of your opening post.

Thanks for the opening comment, but you should ask yourself the question as to why other posters have had a go. All I am trying to do is offer an opinion to yourself as to why. You may actually be right about Leon - you should consider timing and delivery iof the post in this case.

Playing devils advocate at times at times can be helpful - but some posters treat the anonymity of S24SU as a license. I got done by sitters a while ago about Hanson where we disagreed - problem is, if you go off beam on here you run the risk of taking a hit.

Play the post not the poster coco . I must say that I didn't have you down as a piranha :(

It's a good job I didn't state that Clarke looked fine jumping up and down with a bottle of champagne when Billy lifted the trophy then .......

I don't have myself down as one either.

In post #46 I have pointed out why people responded to you.

You can't come all aggressive then suddenly play the 'hurt' card when you get a response. I have not 'played the poster' and if you think I have, then I would seriously suggest you are too sensitive a soul to be on here. This is 'advice' and not 'playing the poster'.

I guess I'll have to keep my opinions to myself in future :(

I very much hope I'm wrong, I really like him as a player (I was one of the people that defended him when we started terribly). I don't think he is good enough, though I hope he gets a chance to prove other wise - As, although he was only involved for a short time, I think he's earned it.

Just read the whole thread.

4/10 would not read again.

Its been confirmed, Leon out for the next three months!

Is this right ? (Sorry--amid all the conflict on this thread, I'm not sure exactly what's being said ironically, and what isn't).

What a shame, if so. Leon has looked a completely different player to me, at the back end of this season, now he's properly fit, agile, and sharp. If he has a three monther to deal with, that will likely bollocks his pre-season all over again and, on this year's evidence, may severely curtail his effectiveness until well into next season. Booo. Not bloody fair.

As for this word, "piranhas", it's a "C-, must try harder !" from me. Come on, boys and girls, we all know the proper phrase ....
