Leeds United defender Leigh Bromby announces his retirement from playing, but is set to remain in the game as the club's Under-16 coach.
The 33-year-old former Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United and Watford player has not played since he suffered a serious knee injury against Cardiff in April 2012.
Bromby said: "It's become clear over the last 15 months that I wouldn't be able to continue in a playing capacity and it's with a heavy heart that I've decided to formally retire as a player."

Sad to hear he has been forced to retire. I will always remember his quality free kick at the back end of the promotion season. Absolute class...

Why on earth is he retiring? Surely a knee injury won't affect the long throws.

I'll always remember thatt free-kick he did that was so bad, the cameras cut straight to Kevin Blackwell who was standard on the sideline, mouth agape at what he'd just witnessed...

Can't remember who it was against now though.

Good luck in the future Leigh.

In the promotion season he used to regularly sneak up from right back when we had a set piece and get his head on it at the back post. The opposition never seemed to rumble him. :)

That is sad to hear.

Decent player Bromby.

Not amazing but certainly did what was asked of him.

Possibly the worst player I've ever seen play for United with the ball at his feet.

Thankfully he was good in other areas.
