Lovely skill from Brooks. Has to be worth a place on the bench IF we get the job done before the end of the season (football gods I respect you!). Same with Whiteman.

Another thing about Brooks. When I've seen him nothing seems to put him off his game. And that's really important for a player like him and his prospects at first team level. If he gets tackled hard he'll get up and carry on doing the same things as before, running with the ball etc. He might be quite lightweight but he's no shrinking violet and has a bit of an edge to him.
Can any more regular U23 watchers than me back this up?
Whiteman's on loan at Mansfield. If we get the job done before the final game we should give Brooks a run out.Lovely skill from Brooks. Has to be worth a place on the bench IF we get the job done before the end of the season (football gods I respect you!). Same with Whiteman.
Brooks will get his chance,he has matured a lot in the last twelve months but still needs a bit of time to fill out a bit next season I think he will really blossom star in the making !!?Lovely skill from Brooks. If he wasn't put off today, I doubt whether he will be very often. What Leeds lacked in skill, they made up for it with nasty challenges. Their manager may have called it uncompromising! Lots of whinging at the ref too and several near punch ups. One of which ended up with four bookings.Another thing about Brooks. When I've seen him nothing seems to put him off his game. Thing is, even if we're promoted with one or two games to go we'll almost certainly still be playing for the title so I doubt any youngsters will get a chance.
Hugo Warhurst and Horatio Hirst? It's a matter of time before we sign Tarquin Waddle and Sebastian Sheridan...

He is often tightly marked and he works away however give him a little space and he drives direct to the goal. He has an unusual stride and defenders find it difficult to dispose him. He kind of weaves past anyone in his way and he is composed in placing his finish often with bend. We have a number of young players who continue to show promise. Semple, Kelly, slater and Jake Wright. are consistent and keep progressing. We look a different side when we have Wright mixing it up.
In truth you could mention many others for instance Ti Smith is doing the business and is making himself an important member of the squad. They all play a high activity game and play out from the back in a modern way. I like that and really enjoy watching them improve. Hope Semple is not badly hurt as his ability to make a telling pass is a big plus partnerships are forming at the back and Bennet and Graham are gelling well for so youngsters and Cummings slots in when 3 Centre Backs are used.
This is a fine team and is a credit to the Academy coaches who have brought them on. I missed a great game today but the reports here have helped me get over my absence

Thanks for that I missed a fine gameWent to this. Brookes, Semple and Mallon were the Blades best players. Reed and Slater made sure we dominated possession - kept it ticking over nicely. How Leeds didn't have two sent of will remain an eternal mystery. The lad who could have gone for a straight red, before committing another nailed on yellow card challenge when booked, must feel really lucky to have stayed on the pitch. 4-3 flattered Leeds. Oh yeah, young keeper did well, didn't really have much chance with goals.

So, yeah, I'm in the lucky position of having the time & inclination to trawl around watching SUFC U18/U23/Futures as well as the 1st Team. I've been writing a Blog about games & the Beer & Pubs I encounter along the way. (And some other capers). The Blog started in July 2014.
We put out a young team at Newcastle and got a result in the group so we could do it again. Be good to keep up with the Academy through your blog and your comments on a pint are also notedRight.... Is this thing on?
I got a lot of hits on my Blog which originated from this thread on the Forum. I thought I'd best look at what had been said. And get registered, and learn how to post & yadda yadda. Be gentle.....

I was at a Q&A with Travis Binnion (Academy Manager) & he told me (paraphrasing) that they had to find a way of fitting that Central League Cup game away at Fleetwood in some how. It is scheduled for Tues 28 Feb. The day after a home U23 game v Birmingham. That's not a mistake. Travis said something like "we'll send a young side".
