He has always been one of the worse of the bunch anyway, but that was beyond the pale yesterday. VAR made matters appreciably worse, of course.

I genuinely won't miss any of this shower next season. It's become a pantomime, and if the authorities don't take significant steps to sort out the interaction between the on field ref and Stockley Park, then they are acquiescing over the death of the game as everyone once knew it.

He sent of Lowton at Cardiff for an innocuous challenge,sent off Billy Sharp against Soton at Bramall lane last season when Billy hardly touched him.
Yesterday somed him up perfectly ,
Must be Rileys best mate he doesn't understand the game either

In fairness, Billy's challenge came under the 'seen that redded in the past' and had he not gone, people would be saying "how come Sharp didn't go for 'this' and 'x' player went for 'this'?" It wasn't a pleasant intervention and Billy has that in him. Over exuberance than malice, but it was clumsy, dangerous (over the ball and studs up), and he went. Fleck went a few seasons ago at BDTBL for a lesser challenge ...

He's not exactly a good ref, hesitant and seems at times to be 'watching the game' rather than reffing it, which is I feel a common trait. Refs to me are the 23rd players (and we have the 24th, 25th and 26th-28th either on the touchline or at Stockley) and they should all have 100% concentration. You could see he didn't have total control for WBAs free kick and you could see that a better ref like Oliver, Mariner or Friend would have indicated to all players when the ball was about to be played, instead of just 'going through the motions' of just blowing the whistle.

Like you, I thought for years that it was Mason who sent off Lowton early in the 2010 game at Cardiff. Recently I looked it up and turns

out that it was somebody called Walton. I can't remember him. However, you could have mentioned the game at Arsenal earlier this

season when Mason failed to send off their defender Luis for holding Burke back who would have had clear run on goal.

Clearly, he's been pulled because of the debacle yesterday. Why are referees allowed to claim its an injury rather than the fact that he made a mistake and totally lost control.
