He's too old for CW to spend £2m on, won't happen for that figure. I can't see CW spending £2m on anyone who isn't a nailed on starter. having said that I can see Gregory coming but it won't be for £2m, maybe £2m to include Webster. Gregory and Webster will only have 12 months left on their deals as of this summer.

Well Gregory looked shit tonight. Webster was no great shakes either.
the entire millwall team looked shit tonight i won't judge him on one game gregory got no service whatsoever

I thought Webster was decent last night to be honest....he's a huge fucker too!

There's quite a few posts on here stating he was awful last night but i thought he was pretty decent to be fair.

Looked comfortable on the ball and couldn't really be faulted for either of our goals.

He also dwarfed Hanson he's that big.

I thought Webster mugged Hanson off last night but do I think He is a championship defender? No.

Wasn't convinced by Coutts either. I've only seen the recent one, but looked down the middle.

Coutts' last penalty was well taken - yes, it was in the middle of the goal but he'd sent the keeper the wrong way with his run up and body shape. His other one was bottom corner - no saving those.

vs Swindon: the keeper has taken half a step the right way before Coutts' approach made him change his mind. Had he stayed where he was in this photo the ball would have passed his right shoulder.

Saints have reportedly put a £7m price tag on his head to frighten off interested clubs
Who's head Have Southampton put £7m on?

An if they've put £7m on his head how much is their right leg worth?

Not sure which paper this has come from someone posted the picture on facebook if its true then this is deffo something we should do for next season

Sorry, what is something we should "deffo" do for next season? Sign Gregory? sign Gallagher? or sign both?

I am not impressed with Gregory at all. Not in the games where we've played them this season and not in the games where I've seen him playing for Millwall on TV. Did you see the play-off final yesterday? What did you think of Gregory? I thought he was poor all afternoon and then got subbed. I really hope we aren't seriously thinking of spending a penny on the bloke. I know he's from this part of the country and I gather he fancies a move back, but we are in the business of building football teams, not removals and relocation.

As for Gallagher...I honestly don't know a thing about him, other than what I've read in the sports press. I've never seen him play, not even on telly. So I can't comment on that.

All I know is, some fans read a little bit of something here or there then get a bee in their bonnet about certain things, based on very little fact or foundation. I feel reassured that our manager isn't quite so easily taken in by some of this undeserved hype.

Sam Gallagher is at Southampton, but soz 56 should've made it clear

PS: RIght leg is worth fk all. He's left footed and it's for standing on only ;)
But here's the thing. McCabe and prince infamously said they would invest (think Liverpool) in championship.

Now, McCabes dream has come true and he's found the first manager since Warnock that can buy success on a shoestring. So does he keep his hand in his pocket or pay the going rate for a player from a PL club? £7m probabley means you can have him for £3m.

Interesting summary for a player that started the break for the winner and directly assisted it. Though aside from that I didn't think he had a great game either – I'd prefer any other striker we get in to be of the pacy variety. For the type of fee he'd command, I don't think Gregory would be worth it.

Don't know. I suppose it's whether Wilder values him at whatever the asking price is. I suspect McCabe and the Prince are going to back WIlder

I do think there is a signing or two to come that the cost of which be seen as pushing the boat out to make sure we are competitive next season

Why would they want to 'frighten off' buyers if they're ultimately going to be selling him, as appears likely?

At the end of the day he's only scored 11 in the Championship. £5m would be the maximum I'd think. Someone will pay good money for him though, they'll see him as the next Chris Wood.

He also has one year left on his contract by the looks of it so that should play a part too. But you know what it's like, they're a PL club so they could just throw a 25k p/w contract at him and he'd sign it regardless. It's what they do for reserve players these days.

Lee Gregory is a Blade I believe and played for Halifax when CW was manager (again I think) so if CW goes in for him I will trust his judgement but as said above from what I have seen looks league 1 standard not championship. This could also be said for Hanson but he at least offers something different in terms of height which we don't really have up top not sure what LG would bring....dodge him I say get leon fit for that role of back up striker and hopefully see someone else come in who will be an improvement to the squad.

been impressed with gregorys link up play this season especially with morrison look at their goal yesterday clarke is a good finisher but his link up play is his weakness gregory is good at bringing others into play and his finishing is good as well he just could never sore against us for some reason

Wilder was at the game yesterday and had a long chat with Gregory's missus. Not ITK but this is pretty much direct from the source.

Presumably, now Millwall are up, that'll add a couple of million reasons him moving north is less likely. Wilder would have to be pretty bob-on to take this sort of punt for a multi million deal. Having said that, they know each other very well from Halifax and, as has been said, Gregory is a huge Blade...

I would guess Millwalls promotion as just made any chance of signing Gregory harder. I've not seem him much but at 28 and with his reasonable but not great record, I'd only be wanting to pay £1m and I would imagine they'd want double that.

We were also wanting Byron Webster last summer too weren't we?

Rotherham wanted him last summer, the fee to activate the buy out clause was £1.5 million.

The Millers offered £1.2, and despite Tony Stewart offering to meet the asking price, Alan Stubbs pulled the plug, saying Gregory 'wasn't worth the extra'.

Tony Stewart has told that story on numerous occasions.

To be honest not going for Gregory anymore was the only positive that came out of yesterday's game for me.
I didn't want him if they stayed down and I want him even less now they've gone up (along with his price tag).
I Don't think he's as good as Clarke, let alone an improvement on the rest.
That's just me though, if wilder wants him I will be all for it.

He also wants to move back up North

However, whilst this is fact, it was made fact last year. He may have changed his mind since then

Stubbs made a pigs ear of most things but that's one decision I'd say he got right.
