Not sure which paper this has come from someone posted the picture on facebook if its true then this is deffo something we should do for next season

Not sure Gregory is worth that sort of money to us, still not that proven in the Championship and we still have another poacher in Sharp who isn't past it just yet.

Sam Gallagher's one I've had in mind! Loan or permanent, would be a very good signing.

Gallagher would deffo be worth a punt got some good and important goals for blackburn this season and only 20 years old i think

Gallaghers record for Blackburn is pretty decent for a struggling side.

10 goals in 29 starts, would be the sort of signing we should be looking to make next year.

Lots of premiership sides have decent players that just aren't going to get a look in given the money flying about in the top division.

works for all parties and if they excel we have a good asset on our hands.

As has been previously reported, Gregory is a huge Blade (with a tattoo on his calf) and I'm sure would jump at the chance to join.

I don't know for sure but have heard he also has a release clause of around £1m for clubs from a higher division.

Personally, I think he'd be a great signing (as would Webster) if Utd get up and Millwall don't. He certainly take some of the burden of having to score away from Billy and give a nice mix of strikers with Billy, Hanson and Lavery, assuming Done and McNulty are moved on.

Agree . Gregory is not worth that sort of money even in today's money fee madness .

We need strength and pace , like the raw black lad at Wigan , signed from Grimsby .

Sam Gallagher on loan next season would be class act for us .

Get some pace in our side and we will have a season above expectation IMO.

Wigan are going down and I reckon Bogle will have a relegation release clause. He's certainly not appeared out of his depth in the Championship, in a poor side, and is still young. I'd love us to go for him. Should have had him in August but better late than never (imagine how we'd have absolutely pissed this division with him and Sharp up front?).

Gallagher could be another Chris Wood. Southampton would be daft to sell him IMO, he's only 21. I'd say a loan would be more likely.

I don't think Gregory would cost over £1.5m but at 28 and still being unproven in the Championship I think we could spend the money a bit better. Also not convinced it would be ideal to pair him with Sharp at that level. Nice thought to have two Blades up front scoring goals for us though.
Wilder hasn't got much wrong but maybe signing Clarke to play with Sharp was one thing he got wrong, there's a possibility it would be deja vu with Gregory and Sharp.

Too much money for Imo. Think we need to be investing in younger players. Our key players at the moment are old enough.

Gallagher I think would be a great signing. If he gets 15 in one season he would be worth 5+ million.

Gregory scored 14 this season 7 pens. Hanson has a similar record apart from Pens.

Omar Bogle has scored 3 for Wigan. 2 on his debut and a penalty. Not sure the hype surrounding him is the real deal

One of the strategies that worked well for us this season was to sign the proven best players in the division (Fleck, Duffy, Hanson). Obviously that's gonna beat lot more difficult this summer but we need to add proven championship quality and the Millwall lads don't fit that bill

According to Wikipedia (its never wrong!) Gregory is out of contract at the end of this season and as he's over 24 he would cost us nothing. Anyone else know if he has since signed a new contract?

On the Millwall website it says the same and doesn't mention that he's signed a new deal to the original one he signed when he arrived from Halifax.

Thanks mate, If that's the case I'm not so sure he is worth £2m but I haven't seen him play much and maybe he'd turn out to be amazing. I wanted us to sign the young lad from Carlisle who went to Bradford as he looked a decent player to improve and he would compliment Billy. Can't remember his name and its irrelevant now. Obviously Hans is a decent player but we need a bit more pace and goals in the league above I think, and Hans can be an option too still.

The player who went to Bradford is Charlie Wyke. I wish we went for Bogle in August when there was quite a bit of noise about us being interested. Then Wyke in January. I believe they paid arounnd 350k for Wyke. Gregory may have a release clause in his contract, who knows? If not two million seems too much for him.

You could have watched him play for Greenhill White Hart up at Warminster Road a few years ago.

There's a £1m release clause in his new contract so i'm not sure where £2m is from.

I've seen it suggested that the release clause can only be triggered by a club in a higher division, I don't know if that's true or not.

Wilder is apparently 'definitely interested' but that was when I last asked, which was in December. Same was said about Byron Webster.

They'll both have one year left on their contracts.

Webster will be 30 in a couple of weeks, Gregory 29 in August.

If Millwall don't go up I think we could go for Webster and get him fairly cheaply. Gregory's clause would come into play but I wouldn't want to be paying more than £1m for him.

But I'm fairly confident Millwall will go up. That won't change their contractual situations but they might dig their heels in a bit more, and Gregory's clause might not apply. And we shouldn't pay over the odds for two players their age who are unproven above L1.

Wilder does seem very keen on Gregory though. I think a lot of that will be because he's someone who'd really want to play for us. So I can see that happening regardless.

Interesting comments about Gregory. If 50% of his tally has been achieved through penalties, it takes the gloss of the total number. We already have proven penalty scorers in Sharp and Coutts, so where exactly would Gregory fit in other than as another bench-warmer? At a reported £2 million that's the type of hefty fee that makes a nonsense of Gregory's pedigree as a source of goals. Even taking half a million off that fee (leaving us to part with £1.5 mil) still doesn't add any more gloss to a player who has only managed 7 goals apart from penalties.

I recall a similar enthusiasm to sign a player currently with Chesterfield (could have been the same poster?). Whatever happened to the notion that he'd tear this division a 'new one'? The best anyone can add is to feel underwhelmed at such giddy but foundation-less claims. We can also forget that other player, currently with Wigan, he'll be viewed as essential to their campaign in whichever division Wigan play in.

As ever, Wilder will be streets ahead of any amateur enthusiast when it comes to selecting those players who he considers good enough to help the Blades next season.
