West Hams ticket system has pretty much resulted in many sell outs over the years. It's no surprise they've attracted. 50k gates. Hardly glory hunters are they?

Everton were a huge club. A great club. What are the "correct circumstances" ?

I think Everton are still bigger than West Ham
And potentially every bit as big as Chelsea and Man City have become if they got the same level of investment

I switched on Sky sports and they had live coverage of some Spurs farewell party. It seemed a little bizarre to me given they're basically moving back there in a year.

It is one of the worst feelings in the world as a football fan to leave your home that youve been going to for however long..the longer the worse it is! Nothing will ever replicate or bring back what you lose.

:(
I'm not sure Chesterfield, Rotherham and Doncaster fans will agree with you? Memories are precious of course. But times move on. We're lucky to have a great stadium with loads of development potential so we don't need to consider that. Over at S6 though I think they will build a new stadium in the next few years if they get to the Prem. It would make good sense for them to do that. Be cheaper than repairing the current one!

Belle Vue was possibly the worst stadium I've ever been to. Stood behind the goal at one end, you couldn't see what was happening at the other of a goal was scored you only realised when the teams trooped back to take the kick off. And it was seemed to be at least half uncovered terracing as well. Remarkably it actually had a capacity of 40 thousand at some point.

Ha ha my wannabe hoolie 40 something bro in law cried when they left Belle Vue. You can get a house on it now.

And they'll need a 40k capacity ground again when the power shift, from Sheffield to Doncaster and Barnsley, as predicted by the then Doncaster Chairman John Ryan, comes true.

Under John Ryan they'd have almost have been as massive as the pigs.

The new Sty is supposedly earmarked for the bit of land on Weedon St, you can see mock ups on Porktalk and quite a few pigs are all for it seeing as they need at least 60,000 seats when they get promotion in a few weeks.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I heard that. I can't imagine the owners of Meadowhall being right impressed though. Just think of what traffics going to be like on the Saturday before Xmas if they're at home, not to mention they'll have to deal with 70 thousand piggies parking in Meadowhall car park preventing shoppers from parking and coming through the doors

Wouldn't disagree. Everton are a great club. Far bigger than Chelsea have ever been. However West Ham are getting 50k plus now, after leaving one of the best atmospheric stadiums going. Go figure. Hardly glory fans are they?

That was in the forties though. The worst view there was when the smoke from the fire Ken Richardson had started for the insurance meant you couldn't see either goalposts wherever you stood.

I didn't know that about Weedon Street, but I've predicted they'd move out to the Tinsley or Catcliffe area, somewhere near the M1, since Chansiri came in. It makes good commercial sense - if they end up being a Prem team then being situated near to a major motorway intersection gives them an opportunity to pull in neutrals and glory hunters from a 50 mile radius. I think they'll do just that. I would think that a 50,000 seater would be enough (for when we visit), rest of the time 30,000 would be plenty!

For us, I think it's important we press the button and make the Lane a 40,000 minimum. And when I say 40,000 minimum I don't mean 40,000 capacity but 5,000 seats not available because they are covered in tarpaulin to stop rival fans sitting near each other. I mean 40,000 available seats.

The idea of abandoning BDTBL to move to a soulless identikit stadium on the edge of the city, doesn't even bear thinking about. A small part of all of us would die if that ever happened. Long may we remain at Bramall Lane, the world's spiritual home of football!

Yes, and that's why I said Everton would easily get 50-60,000 if the stadium allowed after somebody indicated they wouldn't

They have sold out Goodison Park consistently for many years

I can't see that being a goer, unless huge improvements to the road network are funded.

Ikea had major issues with being approved and the additional traffic it would bring to the area and that is within a few hundred meters of the junction of the M1 at Tinsley. Similarly, the expansion to Meadowhall is on hold until a workaround is found.

When you consider there would be 100,000 football fans in the area every other weekend, on top of that, then I can't see it being viable.

There's plenty of space next to Blackburn Meadows sewage works. That would suit them down to the ground. The staff at the sewage works might suddenly notice an unpleasant stink though

Weedon Street...Their new nickname would be sorted then...'The Weeds'.

The Weedon St thing started as a April 1st post but the picture got quite a few pigs creaming their skivvies, and guess what some deluded twat thinks they will move and build on the old Castle market site, another is running around the old runway at Sheffield airport taking pictures or where they think they will build the new stadium. Funiest of all is how they have come to the conclusion that the rust bucket is no longer fit for purpose now they are Premiership bound.

We have had 6 years to upgrade the Lane .......... no doubt end up in the PL with 22,000 sellouts now

When Tottenham play at Wembley they are likely to beat the record crowd for a league game in the English league.

Surely that will be broken next season at the Sty? They will get at least 200k for some games and if they make the Premier, the whole of the North of England will attend.

Typical negative Unitedite underestimating Wendy's gate. There will be 100k for the youth team of course, but much closer to 6.5m for league games. They really are MASSSIVE.

Just one thing
Everton would get 50-60,000 attendances given the correct circumstances, they truly are a massive club. They just haven't had the same investment as Man City and Chelsea so have sort of lost their traditional "top five" status.
Probably because of their stubborn traditions of working class scouseness

That's what happens when you have a fraud like Moyes as manager.

A few more years of Wilder and United will have to do something similar. Rotate the pitch, demolish the South Stand and build a bigger stadium. I hope the new 'Cherry Street' stand will be designed with a look owed to old cricket pavillion. There's retractable roof and the new Shoreham Street stand can fold back in the summer months to allow cricket to be played again
That would put the Kop on Cherry Street, mmmm reword the song Cherry Street boys we are here, sounds a bit gay.

This is a reasonable figure given our policy re kids prices securing future increased gates. The difficulty would be getting an extra 15k seats into the existing boundary.

A much better idea would be an out of town super stadium holding 60k and share with Wednesday.

I really hope that last bit was tongue in cheek.

I don't even like them bastards using our away end nevermind the thoughts of one in my seat every other Saturday!

It would be like us building our new stadium partly in the car park and partly on the existing site

But if we did that it wouldn't be a new stadium would it? We might be able to call it the new old stadium though. We might even be able to play cricket on it.

Well it would be new because all the existing stadium would have been demolished and a new one built in its place on the same land

The only downside i can see to staying and rebuilding is that the site doesn't have the space for a roof like the one at Safeco Field in Seattle.

You pray for rain just to see it do it job.
