After a month how do we think the division is shaping up in general? Will it turn out to be a a season like the last two where the Champions and Runners up only Lost between five and eight games and looked a class apart, or more like the season Three years ago when Doncaster and Bournamouth both lost games numbering in double figures and still went up?

I believe (hope) it will be the latter as this gives us a chance, if it's the former, that's a big ask for us with this squad.

Definitely the latter. No outstanding teams in this league this season. Wigan have the squad to be but are obviously having plenty of problems.

The weakness of the division is our reliable Plan B.

It won't take more than 85 points to get 2nd place.

Will be more like the season where Donny went up. Top two finished on about 84 points.

When he retired Bob Paisley reveled when he was managing Liverpool and wanting to dominate a season he reckoned you could be Champions most seasons if you lost only two before Xmas, one over the Xmas and new year period when there are more games and two between new year and the end of the season.

I don't think any club in League one is good enough to put that sort of form together, my opinion is we can afford to lose 9 as long as we don't draw too many of the others and still be in the top two come May.

still in its infancy the league
over 46 its going to be as usual some sprinters some joggers and some steady eddies
far too soon to acclaim any winners or losers yet

Which one do you think we are then ? I'd have to say joggers.

steady eddies , weve lost still 5th

win our game in hand we asre still there , people panic but you do get the odd thunderbolt dont you
we had more possession and more shots , they found a screamer , it happens
I dont expect those now at the top to go unbeaten for long

on another day we,d have won it yesterday
his shot would have landed in bramall lane

Its still very early to judge but its looking like a close season, not many are expecting Gillingham to carry on like they are now (like Tranmere when they were doing well) but you never know in this sport.
All we can do is worry about ourselves.

Justin Edinburgh knows what he's doing: one thing he's done well is get some height, strength and power in his midfield. We could learn from that.

Gillingham will not fall off, their players are built like machines and you lose form etc but you don't lose height, pace or power. Thats what Gillingham are built on.

They'll finish in the top 6, we will, Wigan probably will and the rest is very much up for grabs.

Well, that's two 'thunderbolts' in six games...

we had more possession and more shots , they found a screamer , it happens

Possession and shots mean nothing. On Saturday, Charlton had 21 shots v. Rotherham but only drew 1-1.

Back to the OP, it's waaay too early to see any patterns emerging. It is difficult to spot a stand-out team so far but, if it does turn out to be a poor division/low points total required, there's no excuses whatsoever for us not claiming one of the automatic spots. The last bit is vital - going up via the play-offs not only suggests that you've limped over the line, but also robs you of about 3 weeks of pre-season when you could be honing your squad for the undoubted challenges to come.

Ideally, you should 'boss' the division from very early in the season. This dictates how visiting teams set up to play you. Mind, Bristol City and MKD 'bossed' it last season but are struggling so far this season. But that's down to the gap in both quality and spending power (£100m spent in the Championship since the end of last season) between League One and the Championship - a gap that can only grow.

Ditto Bury. I should hope that NA is rapidly discovering the key ingredients for this level - fitness and physicality. Clough never would have, hence his recruiting of players simply not physically equipped for League One.

I always say possession means nothing if you dont convert
pro footballs all about scoring the goals
on Saturday Burys footballing gods decided 90 years was long enough to go without a win at the Lane
thats how it goes

teams can totally dominate and lose , but , over a season if we dominate in most games we will win most of those games , rather do that than chance to getting a screamer or breakaway
its all about numbers
we will win more than we lose going for it
as has been said 1 win 1 defeat gets 1 more point than 2 draws
win our next 1 we are back up to 2 points per game promotion form

I think this division this season is the worst since we came down, I believe we will be there or thereabouts in a playoff spot but at the moment being beaten to 1st or 2nd by some of the shit that is there now is very disappointing. JTW could be very interesting if we are out of the top 2.

Toytown completely dominated and there was only one team in it according to fatty. He says that every week .

No matter how we look at the season so far it will change before our eyesimage.jpg
Just like the black dots

We are already on 2 points per game promotion form: P6, Pts 12.

It's too early to tell. If you extrapolate to 46 games, we'd finish 4th with 92 points. This clearly won't happen.

We need to be Top 6 at Christmas, preferably within a few points of the top, if we want to push for autos.
