Not the best draw in terms of revenue generation and not a place for us to boost our giant killing credentials. Not easy either given their current form but we have a better chance there than at Man City, Chelsea or Burton ( I know they are out) so you never know we may get something out of it - even if its only a game plan to take 6 points out of them in the League. Would have liked a home tie tbh - but we are where we are.

As long as they don't do a Swindon on us - my son supports the Dons ( I know sad isn't it - I blame the milkman - bad genes and all that) so I especially hope we get something out of the game.

The problem with the League cup is that you've got to win it to play in Europe. Even if we got a kind draw all the way to the final, we'd end up getting tonked by Man City, Liverpool; or Chelsea.

In the FA Cup last season, I'd have been very happy just getting to the final and making it into Europe for the first time in our history. To be honest if we'd have got there I wouldn't have been too bothered if we'd lost 5-0 to Arsenal in the final.

With the League Cup the best we can expect is a couple of big games on TV and ending up as plucky losers.

Is that optimistic enough?

How do you compete with Man City ffs they are adding a tier to the Etihad, building a 21,000 seat ground for the under 21's and a state of the art training facility.

True it is getting rather stupid.

Although they seem to be investing in their youth system and creating good facilities rather than just piss money away on players.
