Don't think they even close them nowadays do they, being automated?

It's not that long since I arrived at Half-Time (due to being parked up on the M1) and I just got straight in. I seem to remember that not all the turnstiles were open though so if you have a "lucky turnstile" superstition could go out the window.

You had to park on the M1? Jeez, we're nearly as massive as the pigs!

Can anyone confirm this?? If this is the case i'll happily buy a ticket beforehand once it gets me in at some point.

May sound ridiculous but as its not often I can get over these days i'll be happy to pay & only see the last 20 mins!!!

I am coming over for the Coventry game but have a prior engagement on the day.

What time do the gates close after kick off?? & is there any way of getting in after they're closed??

They definitely close them. I mistakenly got to the FA Cup game with Leyton Orient ( I think, earlier this season) at half time. Ticket office closed, but more importantly the turnstiles had closed so that they could tally up the attendance.

Fortunately for me, Rooks Mick Rooker was around and was, as usual, was an absolutely legend

So at a guess, they probably close at half time

Pretty sure they have a few turnstiles open until half time. Could e-mail the club/Mick Rooker to check

Several years ago me and a mate turned up late at the Kop, no idea who the opponents were, possibly Coventry City; anyway, £20 to the steward and in we went.....If all else fails Meath?!

I don't know if it's any help but my mates never get in the ground until 330pm,you can set your watch by them,as they totter down D block on the Kop

Turned up to the Wimbledon game when they'd just been franchised, late. Was walking down Shoreham looking for an open turnstile and an official looking bloke spotted us and said 'you after tickets?' Assumed he'd want paying but they were complimentaries that were, for some reason, spare and he wouldn't accept a penny. Top bloke.

Sure it wasn't Millwall? If so probably Barney giving his ticket away. :)

No, definitely Wimbledon. When they had about 30 supporters and the fat one lifted his shirt to show his belly.
Some games stick in the mind and this was one of them. The tickets were in John Street and it was the first time I'd been in there since it became a family stand.
I also remember it because I'd been telling my mate how good Simon Francis was. He was shit that day.

I believe Greenwich Blade is the oracle on such situations :-)

They don't close them. Went in at half time a few times last season....

Yep. First number of turnstile has to be higher than second number. And then Home team scores more than Away team!

I was stuck on a train when we played Southampton at home. Got there just before HT and there was one turnstile left open for latecomers. Presume that's normal.

There's always a steward knocking about who'll point you in the right direction.

No mention of the bloke who kept your spirits high with detailed description of the food being consumed in the Rut?

Never again....

When I were a lad.... They opened the exits twenty minutes before the end and us kids used to pile in for nowt.

Last season I managed half-a-dozen late arrivals and got in for all of them. The best (or worst, depending on your viewpoint) was Crewe on Good Friday when I arrived with 23 minutes left on the clock. My usual Kop turnstile on John Street was closed which was a shame as this had been my point of entry at all my previous late arrivals. I couldn't find a steward either so headed off along Shoreham Street working on the assumption that if I got as far as the South Stand car-park I would eventually find someone who could let me in.

In the end I got as far as the turnstiles on Shoreham Street, and to my delight there was one solitary turnstile open. Still no stewards around, I scanned my season ticket and in I went. On the other side I finally found a steward sitting on a stool enjoying the sun who just about noticed my entrance-with-rucksack and told me not to blow the place up if I had a bomb in it.

As I took my seat we were winning 2-0; ten minutes later it was 2-2 for which I bore the brunt of the blame. Thank-you Billy Sharp for a late winner that day.
