Strafford has had a pop at United for not pulling together in a joint bid? What's all that about? Anyone know?

It's typical Strafford. As I alluded to in my last post, this is absolute bollocks, his recollection of events is missing a few key parts.

Yeah and he's talking bollocks as total usual.

Well as I saw it, Strafford was only interested in the bid because we were... like a jealous younger sibling. His main aim was to make things difficult for United and get something out of it for themselves.

Only, I don't think it was meant to go this far. So while we might be pissed at actually losing the thing, at least we had every intention of holding it in the first place :D

Strafford now has something on his hands that he didn't really want...

Obviously, my humble opinion ;)

Well now everyone will get to see how much of a joke this tit is of course thats just in our humble opinion ;)

I really do hope the bid falls flat on its arse after this! Or even better:-

Hillsborough cant get upgraded in time so they ask Mccabe for help only to be told to shove it up there arse!

If England do get the tournament he'll have to put money where his mouth is - so to speak, because the financing can't all come from grants and such like surely?

If what I hear, but can't divulge unfortunately, is true... I should imagine McCabe's only response will be to tell him to Foxtrot Oscar.

I hope we leave them high and dry.

Told ya this would happen, he's now everywhere talking about "joint" this and "bringing people together".

Pity your memory doesn't stretch as far as your waistline Lee!

I'll give him his due though, he's brave when talking absolute nonsense, I can't wait for the day when someone calls him out on it.... He's in for an almighty fall one day.

Fuck the bid, fuck England, fuck the Premier League and the FA too, the bent bastards the lot of 'em. I hope Spain get it.

Oh, and in the absence of either Irelands at the next the World Cup, I'll be supporting Argentina. Well, anyone but England to be honest....

well thankfully we wont now be saddled with a 44,000 seater stadium to upkeep, with 20,000 empty seats week in week out for the rest of history. All for the pleasure of 3 low key world cup matches over a 2 week period.

It was always a joke to me. Hopefully we'll ditch any plans we had until they're actually needed.

Wendy can now rejoice in a future of 30,000 blue seats every week, and a huge debt to carry. But then again, there's not a lot of change there.

There is that side to it Alco, no doubt you have a point but it looks very much like Wendy are going to get various grants and free money for doing the ground up and given the hard work McCabe has done to reduce the football debt (I stress football debt, not total debt) and to produce an excellent ground and facilities already, we have every right to be a bit pissed off about this. Certainly, McCabe does.

The unclean PR dept has been in high gear for weeks constantly getting their club in the press for weeks, even though they are in the relegation spots, good timing to leak to the press news of investment of 20 million in january.United seem much more private about their affairs to their loss on this one.
Whether the FA have anything against the Blades or not if they get the bid the FA will surely help out with some funding for the sty.
McCabe can only rub their noses in it by gaining promotion!

I mentioned earlier that we have given Sheffield Club £100k for the branding to 'the oldest club in the world'.

I believe this was in order to boost the chances of us getting selected.

Probably no-one is that bothered but I'd be interested to know more about what exactly this £100k was for. I believe Club are using it to fund playing home games at Olive Grove?

Don't you find it slightly strange that Dave Richards resigned his place on the bid commitee just before the announcement? Something stinks of pork about this decision, and the way Strafford has acted today.By the way,did you the fat t**t on air earlier, going on about the "heritage and legacy Hillsborough has..".

Well,Lee,I can think of a legacy your club gave football..and I'm sure a certain set of Merseysiders will never forget it. EVER.

As for Mahwhinney, the Tory Toad, and the rest of the snivelling, snot gobbling tossers behind this country's bid,a song from Sheffield's own Jarvis Cocker that sums you all up...

We've been working on the PR and the plans behind the scenes far longer than Lee Strafford has been on the scene. We are talking years, rather than weeks. We've also put in far more effort, money and tangible and measurable plans and applications. A couple of empty annoucements and pie in the sky "plans" don't come anywhere near the work we've put in.

I really don't know how they are going to explain this one, think we are in for an interesting time ;)

Perhaps Sir Clevor Trevor will make an announcement sooner rather than later ;)

i'd say we put in for the expansion plans 'for the world cup 2018' safe in the knowledge such plans would get the railroaded green light from the usually gittish SCC and without a care for whether the 2018 WC was ever coming to BDTBL, Sheffield or even England. we now have the permission in place.... if we can afford it we can do it, if not we can sit on it safe in the knowledge its been passed, until we can afford it. very shrewd work by KMc!

Wednesday almost bankrupted themselves when they upgraded their ground for the 1966 World Cup. The pigs will have to find at least 50% of any funding where grants are concerned so I can see another similar scenario developing. However I couldn't care less really 2013 (if England win the bid) is when FIFA will make their final decision which too far away to concern myself with and the actual World Cup a further 5 years after that. Another 11 seasons of football in England amd time for many things to change.

Agreed, a friend of mine works as a PR at the lane and she is devestated that all of her hard work over the past 18 months (thats how long she has been there) has all been for nothing.

I have so many questions reagrding the selected grounds but i dare say there is far more to come on the subject so i will hold my tongue for the time being.

All perfectly sensible but you have to plan ahead in this world to get anywhere and this was our chance to build a fantastic stadium that would last for decades. It is a sad day. Obviously there were worries about filling it but I don' think that is the main point today - not for me anyway.

I don't think we'll see any stadium changes now - hope I'm wrong.

This whole affair wreaks of corruption, From our! (haha) council & the FA right through to FIFA.
Did anyone hear council leader paul scriven's Vomit-inducing statement about SUFC after the decision to use hillsbotrough & not BDTBL!?, He slimed on about how United still have a 'Lovely' ground, with a 'Lovely' pitch & 'Lovely' fans, Patronising Bathturd!!.
Almost drove me to register with the BNP!, (Well, i voted for his mob to get shut of the corrupt 'Make sure the tram goes to the Piggery so we can watch our team, but not to BDTBL' labour mafia!, & i'll NEVER vote tory.
Scriven's lot will never get another vote from me, that's a CERT.
And he can shove xmas card & letter right up his sphincter. The 2at!!.

Where have you pulled those figures from?

Let's be honest if the Wendys can't afford the upgrades the FA will pay for them. They can't be seen to get the bid and then struggle more than South Africa to get the grounds done on time.

Lets hope we don't get the world cup in 2018 and that the shit sty falls to ground and there joke of a team with it...

Bankrupting a club to play 2 games of international football between 2 second class football nations in 8 years time (maybe),not the cleverest idea.
Not worth getting worked up about ,lets just sit back enjoy Utd for the football league club we are and watch the shit implosion that will take place down the road.

It would be totally unthinkable if they got the whole of the upgrade financed in grants and such like - (should England get the tournament of course). Makes me mad it really does.

They are fluffing it up as ground improvements for community projects to gain the grants.

Fooking care in the community for that bunch of scrubbers.

That's what is worrying me. If no problem with them getting the games but if they are going to get a free ground upgrade now that would piss me off.
The problem is that I've asked the question a few times on here and noone knows what the rules are for the grants. Are they getting 100% funding? Which would really annoy me, or have they got to find the majority of the £20 Million upgrades which would cheer me up no end.
