Lambert says Wolves squad is too big.

Link works just fine, and welcome!

It's the bit where he says he wants to look and evaluate which could be slightly concerning, but if they didn't already have better players at their disposal he (EEL) wouldn't have come int first place.

He might well be recalled in January for Lambert to have a look, but I suspect he'll return to us. Only natural for a new gaffer to want a look at everything he has at his disposal.

I read the link as 'Ian Bert wants that winning feeling at Wolves' because I'm special.

We are forgetting that the reason EEL was loaned to us was not that he was deemed not good enough. It was to get him game time due to injury last season....... If he was just not good enough he would have been sold to maximize his market value and not allowed to run his contract down.

I think a January recall is likely.

It seems we are doing everything we can behind the scenes to sign him. If we offer him a decent wage the fact that's he's playing regularly for us and looks like he's enjoying his football has to be a massive positive.

Lambert is bound to want to take a look at him but they already have 1 young centre back in the first team in Hause so you'd think he might go for experience if he looks to strengthen there, let's hope so !

New manager cliches are ace.

The players' fitness needs improving. The squad needs one or two additions. Everyone has a chance to impress. We need to work on the training ground. Let's get the smile back on people's faces.

Easy money.
Yep, all the things they said before getting sacked from the last job.

Although that did seem to be the general consensus amongst many of their fans, if I remember correctly.

To be fair, he's not really said any of that shit. Because you're right, it's poor form to start talking about players not being fit enough as it implies the predecessor wasn't doing his job properly. In fact, since the Scouse bullshitter, I'm working on a theory that managers who say this when they start a new job will not succeed.
Lambert seems to be saying 'either the new foreign players put the effort in to adapt their game or they can fuck off'.
I think he could be a decent choice. He was a really good manager until he went to Villa, which almost broke him, and then followed up one car crash club with another, Blackburn

The main thing for me is that Wolves want to challenge for promotion. EEL is good at this level but is he good enough to challenge for promotion against top Championship clubs?
I don't think so. Maybe one day, with a lot more experience but not in the near future. So will Lambert be desperate to keep him? Doubt it.
It's more likely a mid table championship club who are trying to build a team over time will come in for him. And probably not until the end of the season.

EEL is plenty good enough for the next level, otherwise what's the point of even contemplating signing him. He's the best centre back since Maguire who, apart from a brief flirtation with Cahill, was the best centre back since Morgan. That's it, three decent centre backs in the last dozen or so years. That's one of the main reasons why we've been in the shit for so long.

FFS get him signed before some other fucker does.

Hi Blades, my first post on here. Been watching for years and decided to take the plunge. Anyway, Lambert says his squads too big so maybe he wants a clear out to get his own lads in. Could be good news for ur to get E.E.L.

Hope link works on my first attempt!

A good first post ticking a few boxes - positive story, functional link, pretty good grammar. Welcome curly , you'll do well here ;)

I thought he was on season long loan and couldnt be recalled?

think he can be sold though

His contract runs out at the end of the season so ,they could get a fee in January ,whereas he is unlikely to sign in the summer.
I think there is more danger of him going somewhere else than staying at Wolves.

Won't they get a few regardless through tribunal?

The Wolves fans laugh at these kind of comments us comparing him to Morgan and wonder if you're talking about the same person. Speak to any of their season ticket holders, they say EEL has potential but always made the odd mistake when he played for them. You can get away with errors in league 1 but in the Championship those errors get punished.

My Wolves mate has some theories.
1: Hes matured and improved dramatically during his loan spell ( which they think is unlikely) or
2: more likely maybe he needs the right partner so that his weaknesses are protected in a back 3.
He needs a Jake Wright kind of experienced player next to him to cover for his errors.

So, what do we do then? Sign him based on what we've seen with our own eyes for the past few months or give a miss because someone's Wolves mate says he's prone to the odd error. Give me a fucking break.

My understanding was that there were no more 24-hour recall clauses, but a recall could be made during the January transfer window when it opens. Might be wrong, though.

Also best chairman I've ever worked for , best set a lads I've worked with , fantastic support , how the ref didn't give that for ( insert the reason yourself ) .
That's uncle ( Botox) Colin for ya down to a tee .

Their defence looked awful against Derby last week. I wondered at the time if that maybe meant a recall in January.

That's not what I said though. I said he wasn't good enough for a club challenging for promotion. There's a big difference in standard between Wigan or Rotherham and Newcastle or Brighton.

He's not currently good enough to be a starter for a club with Wolves' resources and aspirations. He's good enough to hold his own in the Championship. A lot of our fans over rate him IMO and a lot of that is due to playing in a back 3 most of the time - he has protection there and he can do what he's best at, it suits him perfectly. But I want us to sign him as much as anybody, because he's likely to develop a lot and would be a safe investment, and having him and O'Connell (and Moore) on permanent contracts would provide a foundation way beyond anything we've had in recent years.

It's hard to predict what Wolves are going to do. Their fans are getting on Danny Batth's back, and he's the captain. I think Lambert will want to go for more experience/proven quality. He may recall EEL to assess him but I think he'd end up coming back to us for the rest of the season in that scenario.
