So, what do we do then? Sign him based on what we've seen with our own eyes for the past few months or give a miss because someone's Wolves mate says he's prone to the odd error. Give me a fucking break.
Of course we should sign him.
What I'm trying to say is that we shouldn't be thinking he's massively in demand so we need to break the bank and pay him over £10K a year because he's such a star. Also my point is that he's not likely to be in demand in Championship (apart from maybe teams at the bottom end) and he's unlikely to be wanted by Wolves.
If we're the buying club it shouldn't be us telling Wolves how great he is, bigging him up when they didnt rate him. They now might want more money. We should play it cool, set a fair price and wage but look for alternative targets. This might end up being like a game of poker, if Wolves think we're desperate then they might hold us to ransom so we should be prepared to bring in an alternative.
As I've said there's a theory that EEL is not good enough playiing in a normal formation of 2 centre backs.
But with Jake Wright forming a back 3, then it allows EEL and O'Connell to make occasional mistake and Wright is clever enough to sweep up and cover errors.
