And this is why the football will be dead in 10 years. Because In that stand you all think you’re better than all the “foul mouthed twats” the kids won’t know that it’s part and parcel of football atmosphere. All you’re doing is creating mild mannered, lilly livered non aggressive snowflakes and turning football fucking sterile.

I dont want my 6 year old grandaughter to be subjected to the foul mouthed twats at that tender age
I do want my grandaughter to be mild mannered and non aggressive I also want her to be a passionate Blade
She can be all of those
If you think football will be dead because of this you are indeed a fool

But we'll put off rebuilding it properly for the rest of our lives and it'll be infuriating. We'll probably get a shitty bolt on bodge job in about 20 years time.

Would you prefer a tarpaulin over it ?

Some interesting points on here. It was clear that the 2 home games at Christmas created the "rockin' " atmosphere which used to be regular, at least on the kop. When esteemed Forgeblade was a lad and we used to go in what is now laughingly called the family stand, the kop made a hell of a racket, sent shivers up yer back. This was with about 13000 to 16000 in the ground. More recently it has been quieter, but there have still been great, and loud, times, including the last 2 games. We stand near the back of the kop, and when it's like it was last week, there is nowhere better to be for unbridled joy and loud, fierce, northern passion. Sadly, it's not like that often enough, possibly because there are too many people more interested in queuing for pies at 3.30, and having an out of stand laugh with their mates. I don't like sanitised football, it's the only part of my life now which is where I can shout and swear in an uninhibited way, forget about my bad back and the general crapness of the world, and act like a bit of a berk at times! The kop does need redevelopment, the facilities are crap, but I don't go football for facilities (if I did, I wouldn't go on the kop), I go to experience those times which, although rare, you will never forget. Anyone for Jags v Arsenal, December 2006, and Simon Tracy v (Premier League) Coventry, 1998???? Yes please!!!

And if you’re going to take up one of the limited amount of tickets for away games then fucking stand and support the team. You have a job to do.
What a fucking snowflake!

Just on your own post, I think I may have identified another reason why you believe so many people think they’re better than you, and it’s nothing to do with the stand they sit in.

Bravo, great post.

I go to the Kop to give it the big un and keep myself sane!

I
Maybe I’m cynical but the club would make more money from the south stand too by charging more for tickets.

Surely something could be done with the posts on the kop and the facilities without having to close the stand? That would be a start
Yes granted. But extending the Kop would a quicker fix if we by accident get ourselves promoted.

I always have a couple of drinks before the match, then I go for a pee just before taking my seat and then go again at half time. If I can manage that in my seventies why can't you? Unless you have a medical condition needing to go twice in the first half seems excessive.

Offering to change seats wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the fact that just about everyone was standing. So hardly a solution is it?

As for me ' doing it before ' I stood when it was standing, but because of the reckless behaviour of a minority of fans over the years standing has supposedly been banned and seats are provided for everyone. Deciding that you are going to ignore the rules and stand anyway whatever the inconvenience to your fellow supporters is pure selfish entitlement behaviour which has become commonplace in this country over the past number of years.

I believe that safe standing areas should be provided in order to allow those who prefer to stand to do so but until then supporters need to try to understand it's not all about them and other people are being inconvenienced so that they can do what they want, despite it being against the rules.

Tell the stewards. Or the police. That will sort out the shithouses. Or you could just accept it for what it is? Standing is illegal yet commonplace. Go as far down as the standing go and offer to swap. I’ve done it myself for the opposite reasons. And that was at Wembley. Not beyond is it?

You seem to have a regular bladder. Bravo. I’m 32, drink a gallon of tea in a morning and then depending on the occasion, a couple of pints or a gallon. I’ll piss when I need to piss. If I block someone’s view for 5 seconds then I will. I won’t stand up and go if we’re on the edge of the box mind, if there’s a break in play, free-kick against us, throw-in etc. I don’t hinder folk for the laugh. What we have to remember is that we’re not watching on tv. We can’t pull up a chair and have everyone walk behind us. It’s real life. People piss. People need snap.

I have no intention of reporting anyone to anyone, just like I have never - and will never - reported anyone to the mods on a forum. The stewards can see what's happening but choose to turn a blind eye. People stand up in significant numbers so the stewards ignore them because they are intimidated by knowing that trouble will break out if they try to enforce the rules. So the ' I'll do what I want what yer gonna do about it ' brigade win, and one thing leads to another which is the reason that ALL football supporters get treat like shit by the police and those who's job it is to organise supervision of fans. Which is why we end up with barricades across roads and wind up having to traipse miles out of our way, and apparently need an inordinate number of stewards and coppers to keep order before, during and after what is supposed to be an enjoyable entertainment.

All because a significant minority act like spoilt brats and are incapable of conducting themselves like adults. It is all about them, it's the me,me, me generation.
Where has all this aggressive hatred come from? I've stood next to people who've had spittal coming out of their mouths whilst they've screamed obscenities at players and opposing fans. What in the name of Christ is that all about?

This is the best explanation that I've heard to date.

No ‘bigger Blade’ sentiment from me. Never will be. I go when I can and do what I can.

What bothered me was the tutting when I went for a piss and came back. ‘Blocking the view’ is hardly worth mentioning is it. It’s a few seconds each way. It’s not about ‘buggering off for a piss’ either is it? I mean come on, I don’t pick and choose my piss times.

As for your issue at an away game, I keep saying it - offer to change seats with the troublesome individual. He gets to stand and you get an uninterrupted view. Simple solution which keeps all parties happy. If you can’t offer that then I’d argue you’re the “wanker” as you state above.

People stand and people sit. That’s why we have the kop and family stand. Away matches there isn’t that option. But why should you get privelige over that younger fan? You’ve done it before so you know why he’s doing it. Bit unfair of you to deny him the opportunity you had.
You make some fair points, but if you have bought a seat ticket then surely you should be able to watch the match sitting in it. The opportunity to stand in the past was there because standing was the only option in most of the ground. When you get old and find it difficult to stand for the match what do you suggest we do unless the solution is available which you describe. Most of the time it isn`t. Many old fans have stopped going away because of this problem, so less support for the team.

All we need is Anthony Taylor to referee all our remaining home games, there is nothing like a twat referee for getting the crowd going.

Should be quite an atmosphere at the Etihad stadium on Thursday night then, when Anthony and his assistants 'take control' of the Man City v Liverpool match. Not as though there'll be much riding on the result so should be a comfortable evening for him.

Just need to make a large area of safe standing at BDTBL so them that go to stand, can stand. And people who can sit, sit.

Well you say “less support” but it isn’t. For every ticket not bought by an older gentleman/lady, is one that can be purchased by someone else. And as we’ve already read, the older fan doesn’t sing and shout much more anyway. So one could argue the support is louder and better.

' Job to do' you daft prat. People who consider foul mouthed aggression a necessary part of following football are pathetic. Encouraging youngsters to follow their team and passionately shout encouragement is one thing, exposing them to the raw hatred spewed out by imbeciles toward other football supporters and opposing players is simply abhorrent.

You need to get a grip pal. Do you know why sport is such a wonderful thing? Its because it's the only thing in life that means absolutely everything, and at one and the same time absolutely nothing.

Lose that and allow it to become more important than the reality of family, friends, health, and life in general then you lose the whole point of it.
Yes, you do have a job to do. Yes it really does have an impact on players.

And yes hostility and agression is needed in football, it’s what us players want.

And yes that’s a first hand perspective.

Now kindly stop talking fucking bollocks.

Fair enough, but if that is the case why don`t we sell out for every away game ? Some older fans may be quieter, although I`m certainly not, and some younger fans can be a bit inhibited unless stoutly led by their peers. If the same conditions exist when you reach my age then perhaps your views might moderate.

That's your opinion which is complete bollix.

No it's not, passion commitment and love of your club is what's needed

Your perspective is that of a kiddy winkey and therefore otiose.

So kindly fuck off ,you immature twat, oh, and Happy New Year to you my fellow Blade.

The atmosphere has been great recently but if anyone thinks that has anything to do with the results then you’ll be pretty merry.

The officials and the players got the fans going not the other way round. If it was the other way round then the fans would be paid to get in. It just makes it more enjoyable when the atmosphere is as good as those last two games.
