Some interesting points on here. It was clear that the 2 home games at Christmas created the "rockin' " atmosphere which used to be regular, at least on the kop. When esteemed Forgeblade was a lad and we used to go in what is now laughingly called the family stand, the kop made a hell of a racket, sent shivers up yer back. This was with about 13000 to 16000 in the ground. More recently it has been quieter, but there have still been great, and loud, times, including the last 2 games. We stand near the back of the kop, and when it's like it was last week, there is nowhere better to be for unbridled joy and loud, fierce, northern passion. Sadly, it's not like that often enough, possibly because there are too many people more interested in queuing for pies at 3.30, and having an out of stand laugh with their mates. I don't like sanitised football, it's the only part of my life now which is where I can shout and swear in an uninhibited way, forget about my bad back and the general crapness of the world, and act like a bit of a berk at times! The kop does need redevelopment, the facilities are crap, but I don't go football for facilities (if I did, I wouldn't go on the kop), I go to experience those times which, although rare, you will never forget. Anyone for Jags v Arsenal, December 2006, and Simon Tracy v (Premier League) Coventry, 1998???? Yes please!!!
